@jmmcclain's name's meaning eludes me (it might just be his name). However, one of his stated purposes is to make @mialinay giggle. And this water spider-like mon might help. (I can't do much about his second goal though)

Nostalgiavember Day 8 - Mega Man X 1 comments

The original (and often considered the best) entry in the sequel series to the OG Mega Man. While I'm not one to normally follow popular opinions, I do agree that X1 is probably the best in the series. I've played all the games up until X5 and a little of X6, and the only one that came close to capturing the magic of X1 was X4.
Not much to say about it. It's a simple jump and shoot platformer with some Pokémon-style elemental rock-paper-scissors thrown in. And its simplicity is really what gives it its charm. Anyone can pick it up and immediately understand it and enjoy it.
The colorful enemies and levels certainly help, too. And of course, there's the rockin' soundtrack. All the level themes are great. But some that really stuck out for me were those of: Launch Octopus, Storm Eagle, Chill Penguin, Bubble Crab (and Duff McWhalen), Gravity Beatle, Jet Stingray and Storm Owl.
Oh, let's not forget the secret Hadouken and Shoryuken moves you can do in X1 and X2 respectively.

Nostalgiavember Day 7 - Yu-Gi-Oh! 3 comments

"Yu-Gi-Oh!" is still going strong. In fact, it's on its seventh series (creatively called "Yu-Gi-Oh! Sevens").
But the original started it all. By that, I mean the manga. The first 50-so chapters had very little to do with card games, and were far darker than anything shown in the anime. They had an anime adaption too, but it wasn't widely known in the west.
Despite the memetastic nature of the now infamous 4Kids dub, it is the one that introduces me to the franchise, and I still have fond memories of watching it before school. I also remember Dan Green and Eric Stuart's energetic performances as Yami and Kaiba respectively.
And yes, I even played some of the IRL game back in the day. One of my fave combos was using Convulsion of Nature and Archfiend's Oath. Not especially powerful but still fun.
I've seen almost every piece of media related to Yu-Gi-Oh! and I'm still excited to see what its future holds...

Nostalgiavember Day 6 - Swat Kats 2 comments

This show did not mess around. It was one of Hanna-Barbera's last productions, and did it ever go out with a bang. It was dark, stylized with action-packed stories and cool gadgets, and of course plenty of collateral damage.
I remember the episode where the Swat Kats travel to an alternate world and meet the evil versions of themselves. A cliché sure, but it was still cool to see.
The character I remember most fondly is Callie Briggs, the deputy mayor and the Swat Kats' friend. No, not because of that... Shut up, you don't know, you don't know me! Because despite being just a regular person/cat, she ran the city practically all by herself. No, she wasn't power-hungry. She was hard-working and dedicated, while still remaining humble and friendly.
Naturally, there were also the cat puns, oh the cat puns...

Verily do I vouch that I did not visit the volumes of the vibrant graphic novel. Yet most valiantly did I view the video adaption of the vigilante's visage.
V is no doubt an iconic character. Apparently in the movie has was made to be a little more sympathetic, whereas in the graphic novel he was more morally ambiguous. What really sticks out is Hugo Weaving's performance as V. He can't show any facial expressions, but he just oozes charisma throughout the film. I can see why people would listen to him.
It is important to remember that this is a work of fiction though. I mean, people wearing masks, a disease afflicting the entirety of England, overbearing government and excessive police surveillance, not to mention the US turning on itself? Pffft, man, Alan Moore be crazy, right?

So here's some @interesting facts about this particular mon. His name is Sleepy Sumo, but he's no slouch. In fact, he's my most frequently used Gym Defender (which also means he's my main source of PokéCoins).
