Oh, three already. That's gotta be a record. Aww, but one of them isn't whining, so I guess that's still only two. Okay, half way there.

Anyone else doing a bingo game for certain users showing up to posts they find mildly disconcerting simply to voice said discontent? If so, don't say which users but I am curious to know if you get actually get a bingo.

If you have the means, of course. And I'm aware that some of you are already vaccinated. Well done.

Happy Independence Day of Indonesia! 1 comments

I confess that the only reason Indonesia drew my attention was due to a certain squirrel Vtuber (as well as a zombie one, and a living dagger one). I wondered why Hololive would branch out to this country in particular. As it turns out, Indonesia is the 4th most populous country in the world, and a lot of Indonesians speak English, and they actually really like the Japanese.
That aside, this holiday commemorates the Proclamation of Indonesian Independence from the Netherlands (yeah, it wasn’t the British this time). Apart from the usual parades and celebrations, there’s the Presidential Address which is given the day before, local competitions and the Flag Hoisting Ceremony. They’re really big in that on that one. In fact, there’s a legal obligation to display the Indonesian flag on this day. (Makes Flag Day in the US look tame by comparison.)
If I recall, we do have Indonesian users on this site. And to them I say Selamat Hari Kemerdekaan Indonesia!

"Bonarana, you come into my house on the day my daughter is to be married and say 'Godhooman, give me juicy bugs.' but you do not offer friendship, you do not show respect. Why should I do this for you?"
"Because I am cute, Godhooman."
"...You have made me an offer I can't refuse."

Friday the 13th may be over, but these kitties are still out waiting to cross your path. And if they do... you literally have nothing to worry about. But they might. Sadly, due to their association with bad luck, black cats actually have a hard time getting adopted, and face a high rate of abandonment. (Let people believe what they want, they said.)
Thankfully, the RSPCA and ASPCA have both established a Black Cat Day on October 27th and August 17th respectively to help get black cats adopted. And some shelters even forgo the adoption fee on Black Friday to aid this effort. And the interest in blacks cats was also heighten by the Black Panther movie... To be fair, the Bombay breed was specifically bred to look like a mini panther.
Some cultures (like Japanese and Celtic) do hold them in higher regard. And Irish and British sailors apparently also hold that a black ship's cat is a bringer of good luck.
Still, their struggle is real. (But certainly not as much as that of white cats.)

However no one quivers before. But as it turns out, they are glad to see him. (The original reddit post refers to him as Benedict the Gate Keeper, a froggo who greeted the poster on their porch every night.)

Hopefully this year's bug tribute shall appease him so that he may cast his benevolence upon his subjects yet again.

Thanks for the tag @catfluff. And @funkmasterrex, did you take this pic yourself? If so, may I ask where?

It takes two to tango. She is both my and your responsibility, and we must raise her to the best of our abilities.

My goodness. Who could that malcontent possibly have been?

But, given that you did it in a just a couple of minutes, I'd say it turned out better than expected.

Many are familiar with this cynical cephalopod, for indeed to know Squidward is to know thyself. More than a few can relate to the feeling of being stuck in a life that they loathe and the idea that their talents go unappreciated. Of course, in Squiward's case, the lack of recognition is rather justified. That doesn't stop his bouts of self-pity and his pessimistic outlook. Even so, he does get some moments of triumph, like when the marching band he puts together manages to wow his much better off rival, Squilliam Fancyson.
Still, his existence is unenviable if very relatable for a lot of people. Nobody wants to be a Squidward but they are Squidward, and you're Squidward, and he's Squidward, and I'm Squidward. Are there anymore Squidwards that I should know about?
