NNN '23 Day 9 - Wall-Nut (Plants vs. Zombies) 1 comments
happy_frog · 38 weeks ago
For those unfamiliar with the Plants vs. Zombies franchise, the title is pretty self-explanatory. It's a mobile game where you're trying to protect your house from zombies, using plants.
And Wall-Nut is one of those plants. As their name suggests, their only purpose is to be an obstacle that delays the zombies' advance. Their high health helps them achieve that, and they stand wall and proud even with zombies gnawing at them constantly. You may think that would bother them, but thankfully they got thick skin (well, thick rind at any rate).

When I think of pecans, I usually think of pies. The great thing about nuts however is their culinary flexibility. What makes these nuts so delightfully devilish, Seymour? Their spiciness. Yeah, they're another type of beer nuts. While preparation methods can very, here's one way to do it: https://www.food.com/recipe/deviled-pecans-neiman-marcus-270156

Well, white people do like to raise armies of the undead when it gets cold outside. You might think that's just profiling, but it's true.
NNN '23 Day 5 - Nutty (Happy Tree Friends) 1 comments

If you remember Happy Tree Friends, your childhood was awesome(ly messed up), and you had unsupervised internet access. If you don't, well, let's just say you're better off.
As for Nutty, despite his name and the fact that he's a squirrel, he's more obsessed with sweets than he is with nuts. I suppose that does make him nuts for sugary stuff.

"Remember remember the 5th of November" 1 comments

Within the meme community we remember two dates: the 21st night of September, and the 5th of Novemeber. 'Guess memers don't have much headspace.
Speaking of remembering, I did a V for Vendetta a few years back. It kind of amazing (and sad) how the some of the bleak themes present in the the story of V still apply today: https://m.funsubstance.com/fun/598586/nostalgiavember-day-5-v-for-vendetta/

I feel the need to specify that you shouldn't eat metal nuts. Then again, I guess only people who have a screw loose would even consider it.

NNN '23 Day 3 - Pistachios 4 comments

Is it strange that when I hear "pistachio" the first thing I think of is ice cream? Is it also stange that I thought they were South American or African, for whatever reason?
Well, it turns out they actually originate in Central, in areas which today are part of Iraq and Afganistan. They're attested as a food as far back as 6750 BCE, though there is evidence that they were consumed even earlier than that.
Despite having numerous health benefits such as reducing blood pressure, and possibly lowering the risk of heart disease, pistachios can be surprisingly dangerous too. Apparently, they can spontaneously combust if stored in large quanties, or in flammable cloth bags. Yeah, forget about combustable lemons. Burn life's house down with green nuts.

Since it's the Day of the Dead, let's head on down to bar, down some margaritas with an appropriate side dish. Yeah, you know those bear nuts they serve at bars? Well, this is the Mexican equivalent. Chili and limes are certainly a unique blending of flavors, if nothing else.
