Hopefully everyone has gathered enough nuts for the winter by now. Remember to tuck them in a nice, warm place. The last thing you want is frozen nuts.

Whether no nuttin' or non-stop nuttin', some one is bound to be very crabby by now.

I appreciate the tag, but those look like lizards. Maybe they're newts. I don't know what those sushi roll looking things are supposed to be.

More specifically eastern American black walnuts. No points for guessing their native range.
Now you might be wondering, it is true what they say about black nuts? Kinda. They are harder than the average walnut. This goes for the fruit itself as well as the wood of the tree. If fact, its resistance to shock is what makes the latter highly prized as a woodworking material. And the distinctive flavor of the fruit is what gives it its appeal. Aside from those two, the sap of the black walnut tree is also used to make syrup, similar to the sap of the sugar maple.
So yes, black walnut trees not only got sweet and savory covered, but also nice hard wood.

So, apparently actual turkey nuts (testicles) are also eaten in some places. But I'll spare you that site and leave it for the most galant of gourmands.

Setting aside the less than jubilant historical implications of the holiday, the base idea behind Thanksgiving, that is, being thankful for what you have, is something that should be brought to the forefront. So let us take a minute to count out blessings before we gobble gobble.
