@huinsaeyeou thank you.
Guest: desperation and necessity are often great catalysts for change, but the anger is what blinds us in our ability to see if the change we desire, is worth the damage it might cause.

Yeah. I think that's why so many people are supporting Trump. People are pissed at the government and how it's been ran. People have felt powerless and unheard, so they are picking the loudest option to say F U. But, at the same time he wouldn't be an option if people didn't love America. We would just be complacent and no one would put up a fight. (I'm not a Trump supporter btw, I just see the phycology behind it)

Let's try another way. First, I am not trying to argue one way or another, but I am trying to understand it: on a human level and scientific one. When I said they see a therapist, I assumed that it implied there is mental component to sexual reassignment surgery. So I'll be blunt, yes there is a mental component but the brain is more complex than the body. From what I have read no one been able to "fix" it mentally. Meaning, at this point, no amount of talk sessions, or pill combination will make someone who is transgender feel comfortable in their own skin (recalibration of the brain through therapy or medication). So, the only other option, is to fix the body. Science is still researching it, but there is a theory that it has something to do with hormone levels during pregnancy, which disrupts the brains relation between it's natural sex and the sex of the body.

"Live as the opposite sex"
If you are pursuing a sex change, as i understand, means you must live as if you already had the change. So, a man becoming a woman, must live as a woman for a certain amount of time, while also attending therapy.
What the person in the article was saying is that they had been through years of therapy, and after all that time, they still felt as if their penis was not part of them; it never was part of them and should have never been a part of them. The only example I can think of, is where a person goes into hospital wanting an appendage amputated because "it doesn't feel like it's part of them." Also, we know a lot about the body, however the brain is still a mystery. Changing your understanding of something over simplifies the problem, sexual identity is more complex because it is part of the overall perception that people have of you and how you even view the world. Thus "recalibration of the brain" to accepted the sex you have at birth.

From what I understand, if you are having sexual reassignment surgery, (which not all transgender people feel the need to do) therapy it is a requirement before they do the procedure. I also understand there is a certain amount of time you must live as the opposite sex. @zipthesilver I read an article from a transgendered person who put it like this, "If I would take a pill and change the understanding of how my body should look; I would. But science doesn't know how to recalibrate the brain, at this point in the medical world, so it's easier to fix the body."
And, If I'm wrong, or offended anyone that is not my intention and please correct me.

I figure if you have 750$ to give for Christmas, you could probably afford to just burn the cash in front of her... Then drop your daughter off with a homeless person.

It was just a joke, and you're right. Everyone should feel free to pee how they see fit. In a toilet, in a sink, in the bushes, sitting down, standing up, or in a diaper laying in bed. (and just to be clear, that's not sarcasm)
Well that's a new take on the saying. 28 comments
