There are a lot of long-haul drivers that earn more annually than software engineers. Depending on what additional certifications you have, (HAZ, high value, etc.) you can easily make make upwards of 120k-150k annually.

Extremely good work. People talk about automation but the vast majority of automated vehicles will still have a commercial driver behind the wheel for liability and security purposes.

Search their cars? How does a standard traffic violation immediately translate to search and possible seizure? I'm missing a piece of the puzzle here. Also, left lane passing only was originally suggested/dictated due to the size of Texas and the law is predominately geared towards/used for intrastate travel. If there are only two lanes, the left lane is meant to be a passing lane--not a 'go fast' lane. If you're talking about 3 or 4 lane freeways, highways, or tollways it might not be illegal to go 10 under in certain areas while riding the left lane--but it can absolutely be dangerous. Going slower doesnt imply safety.

With respect, that was the same logic they used when they tattoo'd a number on the arms of my family members during WW2 as they entered work or death camps. I know you're playing devils advocate, and I understand where you're arguing from--i just very strongly disagree.
