@omar1992 With respect, this was one city in one county in one state. With the average US state being several times larger than an entire EU country, this represents a very small portion of our populace. I'm curious, what country do you live in?

I mean there are still good cops in the department. I get that its angering to see something like this happen but let's not make broad, sweeping generalizations.

It's really confusing why this officer didnt follow any procedure here.

I say this looks like a negligent discharge because, after watching the video, it doesnt look like he fired the shot on purpose. That being stated, that doesnt take away from the other hundred or so things this officer did incorrectly.

I used 'officers' plural as a generic for the response to the call. You are correct that there was only one officer, that's actually part of the problem since how to handle this code and to follow SOP requires at least two. You are correct that it was a welfare call but the code was a possible reported break in reported to the non emergency number by a neighbor. I'm not disagreeing with you, I'm just adding some clarity to some of the details.

It did. The cringy part is that this article isn't really hyperbolic, they legitimately voted it down because, one of several reasons, they were afraid it would drain power from the sun. Another was that they were afraid it would create a new sun on the earth's surface? When you start reading about it in full you just... you just need a drink.

The show released a few notes stating that it might have been a bit or trying to spin the perception in that direction, but most of Jacquines people reported basically with the response like, "Yeah that was awkward, we thought Kimmel was going to do an actual interview."

Most native Texans are armed well enough to overthrow a small country on their own. If this had happened to someone who has thousands of hours of training on their EDC and a multitude of different weapons at their disposal, (so most native Texans), this probably would have gone in a very different direction and that person wouldnt have spent a single day in jail due to stand your ground laws. Officers are supposed to follow protocol and adhere to their training not just to keep civilians alive and safe but themselves as well. This was turned into a dangerous situation for everyone because they did not appear to follow protocol at all.

Even if she was, the officer was unannounced and what him and his partner did was against training and protocol. If there was a break in, protocol is one officer announces at the front/rings doorbell or knocks while announcing 'police' at the front while the 2nd officer covers the back where, most of the time, suspects will run. If they'd followed protocol, announced, made contact with the tenant at the front door and confirm there was no break in, this would have been a very different story. There's a reason they train the crap out of officers on the right and wrong way to make contact and handle certain codes. Everyone knows I'm a big supporter of law enforcement but I call out issues and mistakes when I see them... and this looks like a negligent discharge from watching the video and it doesnt appear they followed protocol at all.

This scene is even more painful when you realize that he specifically didnt finish the job so he could raise Flint as his own son... but didnt tell anyone about it. He kept it to himself so that no one would piece together who 'Starlord' was so that his real father wouldnt find him and kill him like he did all the other children. That's the ultimate hero--being perceived as the bad guy and taking zero credit to preserve the safety and happiness of others.

100% on Jimmy when I say this. Phoenix tried to treat it like a real interview and Jimmy tried to treat it like he was doing a stand up routine... just painful to watch.

The actual interview was so cringy to watch though. If you guys havent seen it I would recommend having some hard alcohol first, preferably a double, and then watching it.

Yeah I disagree with this entirely. It might be very difficult, but your life is your life and you can choose to change your path at anytime. There are people legitimately stuck in horrible circumstances and I get that, but the person posting this comes across more as disappointed in their choices and not wanting to work towards new goals versus being stuck.

If the animal was very, very old (still alive from 9/11 so... old), going blind, deaf, losing sense of smell, arthritic... at a certain point there isnt much it a quality of life and the animal has earned an easy passage to the next life. I empathize with you and I get where you're coming from, but if the dog is in pain and cant really do anything a dog enjoys doing anymore there's a difference between keeping them around so you feel better versus them being around because their life is enjoyable.

I have not, sounds interesting but I am very much a black coffee drinker. Yeah Turkish coffee is very, very strong and textured. I like my coffee to have texture and kick.

I dont know if I would say they're losing their minds, I will say they're on higher alert. Im also not condoning what happened. I will also say Dallas command specifically has dropped the ball in several areas... making sure officers have access to mental health services, access to basic gear, etc. The city will spend millions on a 20 x 20 park on a bridge but cant afford many of their officers to have ballistic vests. There's a reason why there's a max exodus of police officers leaving Dallas, they can get better pay and better resources in almost any other city in the county, or head north to Collin County.

Waaaaay too many memes for that. It was funny at first, but 2000 memes later it's gotten old fast. Same as the Russia-gate stuff.

Correctly dealing with emotion and processing it so that a person can survive in a way other than what you do and what you believe is fine, and you vehemently disagreeing with it is fine. You saying its childish means that you have some growing up to do yourself. Your responses also strike me as someone who has had to deal with a lot in their past, someone who has dealt with trauma, possibly at a younger age, and you've taken a very hardened stance on how you think people should deal with it--and that's okay. You are correct that I brought up China, your argument seemed defensive on China's behalf. You are correct, bad is bad and that was also one of my points and why I was a little concerned as to why you were fighting so hard on the behalf of, you guessed it, China in this example.

Nope, I'm saying dont criticize one and defend the other. I'm also saying there's a point of overcritisizing everyone over every little thing, i.e., the balloon. I also stated that it's silly to die on this hill, to criticize someone over a balloon if that's how they heal and process, while bending over backwards to defend the culprits responsible for the overwhelming majority of the problems. The mentality of "well I cant do anything about those companies" represents the very childish mentality you claim to be combating. If you want to twist my premace to fit your argument, or should I say your perception, go for it.
