It's rough now but you'll realize feeling the pain means you must have felt something pretty great for losing it to hurt you that much. If anything it night be scary but exciting that you get to search for something or someone that makes you feel that wonderful again and hopefully you can hold onto each other for ages.

Brother I'm in Texas, I'm not talking about the once in a lifetime blizzard and all that jazz. What they're discussing right now and what is being reported on are statewide blackouts from the heat... which nothing like that is going on. Also to your point, the weather event in question was primarily an issues because, similarly, several plants were down for maintenance as they're usually not needed in the winter for Texas. Same issue with the diesel backups. I'll also add that there have been billions invested in heat protection across the state infrastructure because that's what historically has made sense for Texas, not a once in a century blizzard. I'm not saying ercot is a saint or that I even like them, but there were a few factors involved in the overall power disruptions during that event.

In addition, only a handful of counties across the entire state have had any power disruption and many were in much more rural areas, but even still they were only temporary disruptions.

@abel_hazard That was a general warning they do anytime more than one nuclear power plant was down for maintenance. They do this every year around the same time while they get all the nuclear plants and diesel backups online for summer time, as that is usually when power consumption skyrockets across the state.

This... doesn't look like Oklahoma. Most of OK is fairly dense forests or rolling hills. The majority of the state it literally, mostly national parks.

This is why community charter schools and homeschooling are becoming more and more popular across the states. Especially with advances in technology and offsite learning, at a certain point the benefits of onsite public education dont really shine very bright compared to all the other options available these days.

The organization as a whole has changed drastically. A lot of older folks, some of whom actually protested segregation and racism during the 60's and 70's, have left the organization because there are quite a few bad apples and the direction of the organization is leaning more and more towards an extremist nature.

Dolly Parton is a legitimately good human being. She also runs a charity that helps kids and their families who cant afford it get access to books, schools supplies, and a number if other things. She has invested a huge portion, if not majority, of her wealth into research grants and charities.

Fair points. The only thing I'll add to the WW2 comparison is that one of the reasons the US also had reservations about getting involved is because they actively either didnt care or in many cases you had large swathes of the government that agreed with the National Socialist Nazi Party in Germany. Anne Frank and Martin Luther King Junior were alive at the same time (many people set them in different eras) and the overwhelming majority of the same people in the states who supported segregation were the same people who actively supported antisemitism at both local and national levels. Jews were not a popular people in the US. Supporting them abroad was even less popular. Adding that to the staunch isolationist policy the US was trying to take during WW2... yeah. I wont go as far to say that there is a majority in the US who agree with the devastation in Syria, but there are a whole lot of people who just dont care unfortunately.

I dont see how we can make that assumption. There are a LOT of people who are on the left who love Biden and hate Kamala. She is not a well liked person, in fact it's very likely that Biden would have done even better in the polls had he chosen a different running mate. Kamala Harris has been pretty open about staying in the Middle East and even taking a more active military role in countries like Syria. I think that's the point of the comic, that even though she is the first female VP that it doesnt make her a great person or candidate for the position. I'm not saying it isnt dark humor or in poor taste, but this doesnt need to be a right or left thing, she is just a warhawk and a terrible person.
