Personally, if you are going to fly a flag you might as well fly two. I really don't care if the flags seem to contradict each other, America is FAR from perfect as is. Flying a second flag (in my opinion) speaks you want to add to america the best parts of that flag. I think it would be more classy for a southerner to fly their state flag instead of the stars and bars, but they can do them. I prefer the chaotic neutral of flying a Jolly Roger with the stars and stripes. They absolutely contradict each other, but no flag is meant to be flown alone.

For what its worth, I think the states were already more worried about the commies at this point, the soviets raped their way in eastern Europe and now their forces were massing for an invasion in northern Japan.
