In junior high I started getting into braiding and started experimenting with braids and came up with what is now known as “Boxer braids”. I just needed a cute way to get my hair out of my face during camping and wanted to do something different than just two normal braids on the side of my head. I still do them sometimes but I’ve gotten comments like I’m trying too hard and comments from black people walking by saying “little girl wants our braids” or something like that. I’m Mexican with light skin so I assume they mistook me for white but I literally did not steal the hair trend and “came up” with it on my own. Hair styles being claimed is ridiculous

My family knows his family... my dad worked with his mom. We had a play date before he started getting into his roles and became busy. His mom was so nice offering to take us backstage to his shows he was in. We always declined because we didn’t want to take advantage of them. I am so sad for his family right now. I didn’t know him that well but my dad reached out to his mom. So sad
