Yes! I'm so glad this is a common thing, because it's always confused me when my parents did that, and I never really looked into it but this makes a lot of sense.

I was working one time at a restaurant and a woman had reserved our "party room" for some event she was hosting (I think she was selling essential oils or something like that). While it's not a huge room and only seats around 14 people, a lot of people reserve it for this reason. When asked how many people for the reservation, she said "well if it only seats 14 or so, I don't think it should be that many, but hopefully close to it. I'd say at least 10." Fast forward to the day of, she arrives early to eat and get set up, has her meal, and waits. For 2 hours this woman was hanging out in this little side room, waiting for someone, anyone, to come listen to her speak about whatever it was. I didn't take care of her, so I didn't notice at first, but as she's walking out the door it suddenly clicks in my brain and I find the server to tells me not one soul showed up, so she finally gave up and paid and left.

I was keeping some boxes in my cousin's garage and a few months after I moved out, I went back to get the boxes. We had periodically fogged the garage for these spiders, but I guess it had been a while because I went to put a box in my trunk when I saw 2 of the bitches chilling right on top so I dropped it and said nah you can keep whatever's in here. Im confused. What is the actual distance this person rowed, because there's no way they rowed 1,000 km. That's 621~ miles and the record for top speed (even in a quick dash or sprint) is around 14.33 mph. If they continued at top speed for the entire distance (for my American friends from Nashville to Orlando and for my European friends from Paris to Madrid or London to Prague), they would have had to row consistently at top speed for around 43 hours.
