It's an amalgamation of two words, one French: "oui" and one German: "Ja", both meaning "yes".
So the absolute would be "weeya"
Colloquial pronunciations have made it differ over the years, much like most of our language, so that now there are 3 ultimates.
"Weejee" (American English)
"Weejah" (British English)
"Weeya" (original)
Use which one you damn well please, you don't need permission for anything.
Call it a Susan, if it makes you happy...
