in Norway salmon is sold with the kill date on it. I love it. I can see and marvel at how fresh the fish is. Sometimes it takes them as little as 1 day from kill date to store shelf! It's a miracle.

Look, I wish I could have had this experience as a kid. I just want to know what it's like to be propelled into a somersault by water and if that were to happen to me today I KNOW I would break bones.

Oh! I have to say this as I have just learned about it in my social psy class:
They did a study where the let people ( both men and women) read a scenario of a manager solving a problem with an employee. The story was always the same, the only thing that differed was the picture of the manager they showed along with the story.
In one condition it was an average man, in another an attractive one. I yet another condition it was an average female, in another an attractive one.
The men always scored higher, with the attractive male scoring the highest, and of the females the most attractive one scored the worst. Both men and women expressed that this manager might have gotten to her position for no other reason than that she was attractive and certainly not because she was skilled.
This would mean that both men AND women have a hard time accepting attractive women as anything more than eye-candy.

I know female doctorates in neuro science and physics (male dominated fields of science) and they are very often overlooked or even reduced for no other reason than being female.
One such scientist who has an MD doctorates as well as working on her Ph.D in Neuroscience now, was told by her boss that she dresses very nicely and would look good in a receptionist role.
Another Neuroscientist told me about a networking event where she and her second author (someone who contributed to a study she did) were approached by someone high up the food chain, and instead of asking her about her work, he asked her assistant... He fully assumed that the male was the driving force behind the study.
This is common, it happens everyday and all over the world.

Just a thought, science side of funsubstance pitch in if you know whether i'm correct or incorrect.
If the statement about when something is venomous and when it's poisonous is correct, doesn't that just mean that plants are poisonous and animals are venomous?
If this is correct i propose the fellowing mnemonic:
Poisonous plants, venomous viper.
This to remind you that animals are venomous and plants are poisonous.

Higher education is free in Norway for anyone, including foreign nationals, however you must have a little over 10.000 euro in your bank account to transfer to the university.
This money serves as a guarantee that you have the minimum funds necessary to live in Norway. The university will open a bankaccount for you and transfer this money into it, where you will have access to it. The idea is that you will spend it on living costs, but i'm not sure if there are any safe guards in place to prevent you from spending it all on viking sailing lessons.

I hear this all the time and it is simply not true. Not even remotely. Whenever people visit me in Norway they always say they expected all caucasian and blonde ppl, but it is actually very multi cultural. In particular in the big cities.

As an expat living in Norway who has also lived in the US I can say that Norway's general standard of living is MUCH higher than that of the US.
A postal worker in Norway earns enough to buy a home, take holidays and send their kids off to college.
When you compare the state of a Norwegian prison to that of a US dorm room, you are not only comparing the treatment on criminals, you are mostly comparing standards of living.
I guarantee that most students in Norway live in more beautiful homes, with more spending money than full time minimum wage workers in the US.
Hell, I'd go as far as to say they live better than most ppl with a 2 or 3 yr college degree in the US.

I'm sure there are business trips and business lunches where you can claim meals for other parties involved, but usually that involves parties you do business with or network with, not some randoms you've met. Or you would have to be rather high up in the chain.
I think it's more likely she was just going to get compensation for her own meals and it's a little strange that some randoms she met expected her to pay for their meals just because she gets compensation for business expenses.

Exactly. There are rules for claiming business expenses and naturally one of them is that you can only claim your own meals, not the meals of every random person you end up meeting...
