Once in my elementary school, the exact opposite happened. My homeroom teacher was this cute young woman named Miss Penny, and my PE teacher was this funny, awesome young man called Mr. Ivan. He liked to goof around with us and tell jokes. Once he said thaf he was bored of being lonely and jokingly asked us to ship him with someone. We (jokingly) said that "You'll look good with Miss Penny." He laughed really hard and we continued to tease him with Miss Penny's name. About two weeks after that happened, we were just sitting around with Miss Penny and jokingly said "You'll look good with Mr. Ivan." She only laughed.
Months later, the entire class received an invitation to Mr. Ivan and Miss Penny's wedding.
We were shocked. We thought it was a joke. So we went to Mr. Ivan and he said that he had always liked Miss Penny, and what we said to him made him confident enough to ask Miss Penny out a couple of weeks later.
And it turned out that Miss Penny also had always liked Mr. Ivan.
