Pole-arms were probably one of the most crucial of all weapon forms in medieval and earlier battle. But they are rarely talked about. Even roman legions which championed short swords and shields extensively used pole-arms. As a whole they were easy to use. Easy to make and cheaper to field than just about any other weapon.

There needs to be some context. Three to four novels a day? Week? Month? Year? The last two are not really that impressive. The week is generally normal for avid readers. In a day would be quite impressive unless they were short books. I would consider a short book anything under 250 pages.

Every time as a kid when I had to go into a basement, at night, by myself. The amount of werewolves that some how found there way into said basements was astounding.

I'm not saying she's necessarily wrong but that whole concept makes alot assumptions. There are many reasons, of which there is no way I'd be able to list them all, that this wouldn't really hold true. The first is that breaking femur is not easy. In fact most human will live their entire lives without breaking it. It is entirely in the scope of reason to have a civilization go for decades or centuries without someone falling into this category. Second, if you do break a femur it was probably a pretty nasty injury. It's extremely likely that that wasn't the only injury and complications can occur quite easily. If the person died from an infection or as a result of other injuries then of course their femur wouldn't be healed. That doesn't mean someone wasn't there trying to take care of them. I'm sure there are lots more scenarios. While I get the intent of what she said as a professor I'd think she take a little more care in what she says.

Yes, thank you. People are going to cause an accident because they want to be nice but instead they're just causing confusion. If you want to be nice just go and follow the rules of the road, all of them. I'm not in my car because I like driving in traffic and have nothing better to do. I'm there because I have to go somewhere.
Now if you want to be nice when there is not a specific law or rule that dictates what drivers are supposed to do then please go ahead. You want to let someone out of side street as you're pulling up to a light or waiting a tad longer to let that person out when the light turns green? Then go ahead.

Sounds like the city of Shah Joy in Afghanistan. There's a north and a south. South Shah Joy is above North Shah Joy. The south was built on top of a mountain.

That's the best age to learn that way though. You're less likely to seriously injure yourself and the lesson really sticks.

Even just repairing it can get really expensive. Get too many scratches and the only way was to sand them out. But you can't just sand one area you had to sand all of it or it would be uneven. So you had to either rent the machines or hire people to come in to do the job. But the sawdust goes everywhere. So you'd have to move everything out of house, or completely seal off the area you were sanding. Then you get to clean it up. Which if you've ever tried to clean alot of fine dust spread all over a room is just a down right pain. Then you get to maybe stain the floor then treat it or wax it. Now you get to move everything back in and repeat in all the rest of the rooms.

There's a donation screen on the payment terminals where I work that asks if the customer would like to donate. It's easily 1 of 3 customers who say "They should donate to me" or " I need a donation". The worst part is repeat customers who say it every time.

The Beast or armored cars for presidents has been around for a while. After President Kennedy was assassinated in 1963 they started up-armoring all presidential cars. The Beast is just the current iteration of a long line of cars.

I get the joke but all I can of when looking at this picture is, it's not going to work. That's a reed instrument. You can't just blow air into it any which way and expect it to work. A bit like pouring gas into your trunk and expecting it to run your car.

These are just a couple of changes that would drastically overhaul the police and make them more able to do their job much more safely for not only themselves but everyone else. It's stupid how little training overall goes on in police departments. These are some of the hardest worked group of people in the country and they're given little training or help. The average US ARMY infantry soldier is in some kind of training, while not on deployment, five days a week. Then if they do deploy they can fall back on their training to get the job/mission done as safely as possible and come home. Why is it we can't even have our police training a single day of the week when they are arguably "deployed" for most of the year?

We should do away with police unions and make it a merit based system. Training should be mandatory, and paid, with at least 8hrs of a 40hr week dedicated to unarmed and hostile takedown. Mandatory quarterly physical evaluations involving stringent physical standards. Yes, this means the physical standards would be a flat rate, not gender based, and you either meet them or don't and can't be a police officer. This isn't about equality of gender or whatever, this is about protecting the public as safely as possible that includes any and all suspects. The reason police have to use a gun or taser is because they are completely unable to subdue a suspect safely. A 120-130lb female officer is not going to be able to subdue a 230lb male assailant without resorting to more violent or lethal means. An overweight officer is not going to be able to keep up with/overtake an unarmored suspect this means they either have to let them go or shoot them to get them to stop.

Last year, 2019, the people fatally shot by cops numbered by race: 370 white, 235 black, 158 Hispanic, 202 unknown, and 39 other. Unarmed people shot by police in the line of duty: 20 white, 10 black, 6 Hispanic, 4 other, and 1 unknown. These don't reflect anyone killed by use of something other than a gun. There are over 800,000 sworn police officers in the country. There's obviously a few bad police officers spread throughout the country but let's avoid pointing a finger at a group of people, most of which are not the problem, because of a few bad eggs. I'm not saying there shouldn't be changes to law enforcement. In fact I'd advocate several sweeping changes that would help significantly.

3, or 6. If you ever choose to end it at least you can plan ahead. For the second option after the first couple hundred years of low key living under an assumed name will make your birth name almost impossible to find.
