I own a 1912 version of the 1892, 44-40 Winchester rifle. I inherited it from my late grandfather and it's really fun to shoot. However, finding ammo for it is a down right pain. If you can find it at all it's usually really old, or really expensive, or both. Shooting for fun, safely, is great but if it cost a $1a bullet it gets expensive quick. If I'm lucky I can get it for $.40 a bullet but still more than I want to spend for some fun. And before you comment I know there are more exotic or expensive ammo out there but I don't need those to shoot my gun so it's not a real comparison. I do have empathy for people that do though even if my sympathy is a bit lacking.

Of course that's the worst and the best part about truth. We do all have our rose tinted glasses but trying to find the truth regardless of that handicap is a noble pursuit. The hardest part in my opinion is not swapping one shade of glasses for another. It's always best to go smaller rather than larger when attempting to find the truth. Physicist have it way easier in that regard because there is an absolute limit and the smaller we go the better we can understand reality. Sociologists on the other hand are constantly hampered by "culture" and the fact that while you can go down in scope the big picture can be just as important. As for your example, right now biological sex isn't in question. Your chromosomes dictate that and anything else is merely cosmetic or ideological. We may get to the point were we can change that but for now it's just not possible. But that is biological it's rather cut and dry. Sociological it's a mess and I try to avoid the sociological whenever possible.

"How Much Money Can You Make Donating Plasma? You'll typically be paid between $20 and $50 for each donation, and depending on how often you go, you can earn as much as $300 per month donating plasma." I've know several people that used this in conjunction with a part time job to make ends meat or help pay off unexpected expenses. You can generally donate once every 48hrs or twice in a 7 day period and up to 24 weeks out of the year. The total weeks limit may vary place to place but even with that and the lowest price that still an extra $960 a year just for meeting 3 criteria. First, you have to be alive. Second, you have to be willing to donate. Third, you can't be sick. Sorry that means no vampires or zombies may donate.

It's a great idea and I'd love to see it happen but it's really hard to accomplish. Even countries with laws requiring more than two parties struggle with this one. Many end up separate only in name. Anything that requires a majority vote and not a greatest percentage vote to win will eventually end up as, functionally, a two party government. And this problem gets worse the bigger the government/population of country. Even percentage voting can easily fall into this trap since smaller parties will always lose no matter what unless they get others to vote with them or ally with more parties, hence the, in name, comment.

Oh, that's a mushroom cap with the stem torn off. I couldn't place the picture even with the hint of the post being all about fungi. Genius that I am completely forgot that mushrooms are a fungus.

I know you're just commenting and don't hopefully mean that literally but I'm still obliged to say, the truth is a fact and completely independent of people or their perception/wants of the truth. Truth is by definition objective and not subjective. Which is what this ^ is getting at; along with it gets easier to deny facts the longer you deny them. Nothing removes all respectability from a person faster than saying "my truth". This is both dishonest and idiotic. Dishonest because what they really mean, and they know it, is it's their opinion. Idiotic because we all know it's not the truth and when someone starts by saying "well my truth" the next words out of their mouth should be completely disregarded as nothing more than fiction or an outright lie.

Pain response caused the release of endorphins. You can get the same "mild" response by exercising. Try and get your heart rate up to 120-130 bpm for at least 15 min straight, longer if you can. Minor depression can come on like that and sucks but as long as it's mild and you recognize it you can take steps to help mitigate it. Sometimes all you need is a boost to get over it hence the endorphin release. Other times it's not as effective but at least you're benefiting from the exercise.

fun fact about petrichor is that the smell is always there but the increased moisture in the air allows you to smell things better. And "When a raindrop lands on a porous surface, air from the pores forms small bubbles, which float to the surface and release aerosols". -https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Petrichor

In this case you're both right even if you guys generally disagree. That's pretty rare here on FS so I'll take that as a win. As for posting links all you have to do is edit your comment and you can put in the links.

It's interesting that the most homogeneous countries and the countries that have the greatest support for gender equality are seeing the most diversity in gender roles in occupations. There's a great little clip here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iy4vq8RdPGU&ab_channel=JeremyVineon5-OfficialChannel that sort of covers both sides of the argument. Now I am vehemently against equality of outcome, enforced outcome should never occur and is an evil in its own right. This is good example of equality of outcome represented in a story: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harrison_Bergeron. However, I am also vehemently for equality of opportunities. No one should be limited in their opportunities by anything other than effort and merit.

This is some important self realizations right here. All kinds of mental illness stem from the assumed thoughts of others about yourself when in reality it's seldomly done. Most people only make surface impressions of the strangers around them. Generally they fall into two categories, sexual attraction and danger. But these are, like I said, just surface impressions that rarely get a second thought. This is also the exact reason things like acting like you belong, are on an important errand, or are angry, work so well when you want to avoid attention or be left alone. Are brains just go, nope, and move on.

Washing your hair with nothing but cold clean water is recommended but if you have to use soap or shampoo most people don't need to use more than a dime size dab; longer hair can use up to a nickel sized dab. Most people use way too much soap and this can have negative effects on your hair.

Then there is the whole legal difference between a platform and a publisher. Media platforms are not supposed to regulate what gets published. They get held in a different tax bracket/have to pay less taxes than a publisher. A platform that regulates the media content is then by definition not a platform. This does not include explicit content or content that is illegal by it's very nature. This is why platforms like Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, etc.... have been called into congressional hearings. Of course proving they are intentionally removing content based on (fill in the political blank) is difficult since the companies are not required to keep that information and they "self" regulate.

No, they don't. That's not to say introverts don't experience social anxiety but many of us don't have anxiety more just a general desire to not be around people as much as possible. Then of course you have the conundrum that introverts are less likely to tell you that so extroverts tend to assume and they will say their assumptions. After a while everyone starts to assume what they're hearing is the truth since they hear it so often. Which brings us to this^. Instead of introverts this is really just describing someone with social anxiety which could be anyone.

Crying releases stress. Depending on the reason for the tears it helps the body deal with emotions and allows the brain to move past issues to focus on the present. Even if you have to wait till you're alone it's a good thing to try and do.

You mean the definition: You have to allow or agree with everything I believe but I don't have to agree with or allow anything you believe. Also if you disagree with anything I believe you are not tolerant and need to be removed.
Yeah we see that alot right now.

Dude that whole series is whacked. I read through most of it and it if Dune or Children of Dune is out there the rest of it just gets worse. It's really about unshackling the human race from the path they've stagnated into and giving them the freedom to expand and better themselves but yeah there is alot of death, misogyny, and the devaluation of human life. The series is literally the epitome of it's going to get worse before it gets better.

Well that explains about half of the story. It certainly wouldn't cover the series. It also completely ignores the protagonist and their final goals.

Hmm, that's a really nice one, most just had an open hole out the bottom. I suppose that was warmer in the winter. Likely the channels on the right were added later, well after the original build.
