Imma be a lil nitpicky on one part of your comment on the megathread but I don't want to comment in that mess of things.

It may not have been called socialism but leveller movements, proto communist movements, and socialist movements existed before the modern common terminology. A specific example of this would be "The Diggers" in England who created an anarcho-socialist society in the 1600's.

The term socialism came about during the French Revolution 1789 to 1800's (historians debate the end date of the revolution to this very day). The constitution was written in 1787. The founding fathers were largely influenced by European politcial philosophies so it wouldn't be a stretch that one of them new about socialistic theories, even if it weren't called that.

I meant roughly the same. It's only increased year over year by low amounts but it's still an increase. I'm in the middle of things rn and not paying much attention to this.

Although i can't post the link because fs hates links. My original statement came from the 2012 assesment by "The Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency" which placed Canada as 8th and 9th (respectively) for highest polution rate in the world for GHG and CO2 emissions.
I stand corrected on Canada's numbers getting better as via the European Commisions: "Fossil CO2 and GHG emissions of all world countries, 2019 report" Canada has remained the same level with the only decrease being in 2010 but has continually increased year over year since.

I mean Canada is rated 8th for CO2 emissions and 9th for all greenhouse gas emmisions out of all the nations on earth. To say your nation has little to no impact is exactly the problem. By that logic it's someone elses problem.

The problem with global warming is getting other countries involved. Mostly China, India, and Russia. Those three nations are projected to continue increasing the amount of greenhouse gas emissions. China alone makes up 23% of global emisions and is projected to double that by 2040. Of the current 10 top contributors to green house gasses only 4 have made large steps in lowering emissions (US, Canada, Japan, and Germany).
