I get that lots of people are spoiled, but posts like this kind of piss me off, because I really doubt anyone who knows anything is under the delusion that their life is harder than everyone else's, but just because it could be worse, doesn't make it better. :/

What a child learns is that hitting is okay, so long as what someone is doing is wrong. As far as they're concerned, annoying them is wrong. So they learn to hit, because they were hit.

The problem is, most people who use these don't use it as a last resort and they especially don't explain anything. They just use it and order their kids around some more.

Uhm, actually you can teach kids to respect people without spanking - beating kids, whether it's as a reasonable punishment or not teaches fear, not respect. Plenty of gangster type kids were /abused/, so no, this would not be a solution.

Or maybe they're so skinny because they like salad?? I'm 100 pounds at 5'7" and I don't really care for sweets. I like fruit, meat, and salad.

Chocolate chip muffins that look like blueberry muffins are the main reason I have issues.

Or they could just leave it up to the woman, like I said. Supervisors can't be there 24/7 and nothing will happen while one is there. Eventually they won't have one, and that's when problems will start. You don't beat your kid in front of someone who is there to make sure you don't, you do it once they're gone.

Uhm, except fighting is an attempt to solve problems, and they aren't helping them learn to solve their own problems, which is what needs to happen for CHILDREN who can't solve their own problems.

In a related note, on average, rapists will have raped 30 times before they're caught. The US average, anyway.

But how would we know that? It's clear from many many abuse cases and many abused children whose abusers are never caught or prosecuted that we don't exactly have a great way to check, and it still should be up to the mother because do you really want someone who treated you that way coming back and making you worry about yourself and everyone you care about, regardless of whether they've really changed?

Rape is inexcusable, but in a court of law many juries won't sentence a rapist, because they prefer to blame the woman (saying she wanted it or the guy couldn't help it).

As a side note, there has been research done to prove that how a woman dresses does not influence a rapist's decision to violate her. Rapists target women who they think won't be noticed, can't stop them, and may not report it, regardless of what they're wearing. Most rapists have said that they don't even remember what the woman was wearing. They just want to have power over someone in that way and not get arrested for it.

There was a girl in my history class whose name was pronounced shi-thade. It was spelt Shithead. I don't know what her parents were thinking. :|

Doing everything for children is rarely the right way to handle things. Teach them to work for what they want, and that life isn't fair, and to respect people. If she really is a sociopath then it doesn't matter how she was raised, she can't physically care for other people, and she's one of the rare few.

... but then that should still be up to the woman to be able to say "yeah, I forgive this guy, he can come visit my child". There are plenty of terrible fathers who don't just leave. They may be into kids, or just want someone to push around (the main reason for rape is power, not sex), or simply be under the delusion they are a great parent.

Raise them right and there isn't this problem. If kids learn to be thankful for what they get, then it solves most if not all of these problems.

I always kind of hate this argument, because it was never a matter of guns just running off and killing people, no shit, they were trying to limit how huge your clips could be because criminals can use huge clips and magazines to kill a lot of people really fast, and really for self-defense, why do you need more than a few bullets, especially if you're trained as you should be in shooting if you have the weapon. :/ So yeah, this was funny the first time I heard it, but now 100000 times later I'm just kind of like "enough please".

Not necessarily. Especially in the cases of sociopaths, they often see their children as extensions of themselves and adore them (at least until they do something to piss them off). A lot of rapists, too, are under the delusion that the victim actually did want it, so this man could just think they're one big happy family.
