Oh absolutely agree, I'm in no way suggesting we should care what racists think, meant it in a mocking tone.

Racists can't cope with people having different shades of beige skin, they'd lose their minds if any more colours started appearing

Please don't feel bad, Alzheimer's is an awful disease for everyone involved and it sounds like you did a lovely job taking care of your grandmother. Occasionally reacting like a human being with emotions rather than a robot doesn't make you a bad person.

There were also some worm like aliens that gave me the heebie-jeebies but I still read the book multiple times, as I said, odd child!

Just found it, I'll post a picture, in trying to reverse the effects of Wonka-Vite they go too far and make her 358 years old.

That was it! I thought I remembered an illustration showing one of the grandma's as really really ancient as well though

Yes, if I remember rightly something happened that made her age backwards so eventually she just disappeared. I think they then accidentally made her really ancient before sorting her out again. I'll have a look tomorrow, it was a very strange book and I enjoyed it but I was quite an odd child

Well your drink will definitely be frozen 10 comments

Haha, it's basically a stronger version of a mimosa which is traditional to drink with breakfast on Christmas morning (it's also the name of a UK band who won Eurovision but the less said about that the better)

I'd like to clarify that most people in the UK don't think a 45 minute drive is a long way, many people would consider a long commute over an hour's drive, although I think that's partly because we know how terrible the roads are and an hour's journey can very easily become 2hrs+ if there is just slightly bad traffic. For a long journey I'd say that is more like anything over 5 hours. I think it's also significant how far you can actually get in any given amount of time in the UK, it takes me around 4 hours to drive to my parents' which is 170 miles away (due to the UK being very old and not built around the idea of going frequently from town to town because they were built when people still used horses as their main mode of transport) I imagine in many places in the US it would be much quicker to drive that far (although perhaps not?)
That's not to say that it isn't a small amount of time compared to the US but yeah, like @grimreaper said, I think that person just hates their dad.

I posted a video a while back following a similar discussion, it's of a great shipping container house in Ireland that was on Grand Designs

Absolute Radio in the UK is a bit like this, there was one DJ who used to joke that Heart FM was "mum" radio, he got taken down a peg or two when someone messaged saying their teenage son thought Absolute was "dad" radio

We can buy Lipton iced tea here which is OK, I imagine home made is much nicer but even so I'd always choose a cup of Yorkshire tea (milk, no sugar thanks!)

My British brain thought tea straight away, hadn't even considered it might be coffee!

It's obviously the man talking, if it was Death there'd be no speech marks and it would be in all capitals. Also, he had this sort of problem adapting when he first started work on the farm.

I love all the memes with the rhymes in iambic pentameter, on Facebook I saw a guy diss a corporation for using the spelling pattern in one of their advert posts so I made one up about him, he reacted with an angry emoji

Crafts people's knowledge is so important, I've seen another post about some sort of bone tool from absolutely ages ago and the historians couldn't figure out what it was for, they happened to show someone who works with leather and it was basically the same tool as they use now for 'burnishing' the leather.
