You typed Mom which I believe to be an Americanism (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong). As I'm from England I would say Mum. As for saying something nice, well I treat others as I would like to be treated and if what I wrote made your day just that little bit brighter then even better! It's difficult to say how well teachers are respected here in the UK. I think a big part of the problem nowadays is that parents don't back up the school when it comes to enforcing rules etc. Many parents believe their children to be little angels when often the truth is very different. Some children think they have a god given right to do what they want when they want to do it and this attitude is often backed up by their parents. I believe discipline and respect is something that should be taught at home as well as at school. It's reciprocal. Unfortunately more and more often this is failing to happen.

I didn't know you were from America, I'm from the UK, and as such I am not qualified to make judgements the way I did. For that I apologise. I'm not disrespecting teaching staff from my own country mind. I know that although there are some that are just coasting along until their retirements there are a great many more that work long hours in what can be a very stressful job. I just don't know of anyone that gets up that time of day (night) to work. Though there might be a few that lay awake at that time worrying about their work.

I work in a school and I know of no-one that wakes up at 2am to start work.

Certainly didn't happen in the school I worked in. I asked the Headteacher why not. He said "It's a school not a prison." He would rather pay someone to pick litter than tell the students to stop dropping it. I always thought school wasn't just about learning the I before E except before C rule (Pointless because it's false) or trigonometry (Pointless because, well it just is) but also about learning respect for yourself, others and the environment we live in.

Exactly as it should be. Without this chap they'd be trying to study in rooms with no light, no heat and would be knee deep in rubbish.

Possibly Muslims performing Wudu. The act of washing, in this case their feet, before prayer.

I haven't seen people slam on brakes in front of lorries (trucks) here in the UK, though I'm not saying it doesn't happen. What on earth does someone think they are going to achieve by doing this?

Something tells me this isn't legitimate. I don't think they would spell University like that. Could be wrong though.

I miss her everyday. She is the first thing I think about when I wake up. She is the last thing I think about before I go to sleep. And she is every thought and dream in between. It's strange how you can miss someone who treated you so badly.

I think everyone does deserve to be taken care of. However society (tax payers) cannot afford to do it. Food and shelter are a necessity and to be able to get those things you have to work. So, working is necessity.

Not a case of wanting a job. It is for many people a necessity. It's a trade, service for money. Perhaps both sides should be grateful. The employee for being given an opportunity to earn money and the employer for the skills that their staff are willing to give to the company.

That's why I wrote Just an observation. You stated she might be put off, thinking he wants her to pose for him. I merely noticed that in this instance the artist is female. I didn't say that it was right or wrong. As long as people are happy they can have a relationship with whoever they want. I'm not a caveman.

I've never had a frapp. Is that even the right word? If I go to McDonalds it's got to be a vanilla milkshake for me. For some reason I called it Thick Shake for years. No idea where I got that from.
