We used to have windows like this. When the internal mechanics go wrong it's a nightmare to fix and they used to go wrong often. Ended up replacing them for ordinary side opening windows.

It's not just about buildings. If they hadn't "won" the war what would life have been like for the inhabitants? For example, I'm sure life in most countries would have been worse if Hitler had won. War isn't good, ever, but sometimes you have to fight. The alternative doesn't bear thinking about.

If I was poor I would wear a cheap watch but if i was rich I'd wear a more expensive one. As long as buying the more expensive watch doesn't make me poor then I don't see a problem with spending more. Life is for living. No sense it hoarding all that money. You can't take it with you when you're dead.
