Meanwhile, in Europe, using ATMs is completely free, whether it belongs to your bank or not. ATMs are in perfect condition nonetheless. It's just that one day, some bankers in the USA decided to make money cost even more money, and they got away with it.

Of course it is. The reader shines light on the code, only the white parts reflect the light back. The reader actively detects the white, black is less detected. Your eyes do the same, actually.
