We have a town called Hell, yes, but that wasn't a problem until we started to learn English. Because it doesnt mean hell in Norwegian, thankfully lol.

It wasnt too bad: pølse med bacon is the direct translation, but it's just a description, not the name that's used by Norwegians. But everyone would of course understand what you meant

In Norwegian it´s called "romjul". I don't know the origin of the word, but "rom" can be used as the word for "space", both general space and outer space. So as a kid I always envisioned it as "space-christmas" with lots of stars.

Islandic is basically old norse. Norwegians settled there when old norse was spoken, and it just stayed. Some things have changed ofc, but not too much.

They're just as good or even better. But from the air, the old ones looks better because they seem to give off more light. But thats actually just the light pollution. Google LED street lights vs normal street lights, and you see the difference.
