I think this issue seems split between those who value the mother's emotional state, and those who value the life of the baby. Neither of those should be neglected, but it seems that you can't have both. I feel I come from the side where I would hope that the joy that comes from having a child would overcome any emotional torment. However, I can still see the rationale behind never putting those emotions at risk in the first place. But I think we can both agree that anyone thinking about having an abortion should have a good, long think on the matter, and not just immediately decide the baby needs to go.

Well, let me ask you this. If you had a child, would you love them any less if they were the product of rape? There are some circumstances where it may be difficult to go through with having the child, but do you honestly think any child should be denied the chance to live? I would hope that any girl who has to go through that receives love and support from all those around her, and that no one would force her to give up the baby.
On a slight tangent here, I think anyone looking to have an abortion should first have an ultrasound. It's not so easy to carelessly throw away the baby's life once you actually see it. Just a thought.

Hey man, I'm gonna agree with "thatoneguy". Even if you can't afford to take care of the baby, you can still put it up for adoption. I just don't think that any child, born or unborn, should be denied the chance to live. And honestly, the "personhood" thing is kind of stupid. That isn't a very good definition. Personhood, in my opinion, means that you are a living, thinking being. I believe that from the moment you are conceived, you are a person, and no one can take your personhood away from you.
