Then you watched a movie, and hopefully a good one. Probably have some food afterwards, too.

There was this sob story fluff piece about how young Republicans working for Trump are having a hard time finding dates in liberal DC. Some how I doubt they'd find a ton of sympathy in that town.

Exactly. Quote Molly Ivens if you want to talk about how awesome dogs are, not Hitler.

I work 3rd shift and decided to go get breakfast at the fancy new cafe next to my work. They were so fanatical about their "old fashioned" policy they threatened to kick me out for reading the news on my phone.

I had a manager to do that a Hilton Diamond guest once. The guest truly misunderstood what type of room he was getting, blamed it on me, proceeded to call me a "fucking retard" then demand to see my manager. The manager, who is no more than 5'5" came barreling around the corner, telling the guest that he would personally get his diamond status revoked for being abusive to staff. It was glorious.

Wikipedia isn't scholarly, and that's not a bad thing. I'm in grad school and I'll often head over to a subjects wiki page if I need a detail that it's buried deep in some book but it's something I don't need to cite. Go to it for ideas, not for citations.

So, I work with homeless people. Most of them are here because of addiction or mental health issues, usually a combination of both. Getting them into housing, even transitional housing, as fast as possible and providing them with services to keep them there is the biggest deterrent to homelessness. It doesn't always work, and sometimes it takes two or three tries to get somebody permanently housed, but the bottomline is that a housing first approach works best.

Listen to Maria Bamford's "Unwanted Thoughts Syndrome." Pretty much the whole back half of the album is about that.

Uh, I don't believe this. There seems to be a distinct lack of McDs around Nevada and a whole lot in Vermont.

As I've gotten older, I've realized there is no time limit on life (in a philosophical sense anyway). My parents only started to travel and take classes when in they were in their fifties. Take your time.

Don't do that to them. They have enough to deal with without some jerk off making their jobs 1000x harder.

I once drove from San Diego to Anaheim and remember zero percent of it. It was pretty scary.
