I tried my best to both rescue and show some sympathy but the moment they ruin my stealth mission or just get killed by one big invisible melee elite all at once,

Or an NPC that’s actually useful. The marines in halo CE and reach are probably the worst of the entire series. The only good thing about them is they draw the enemy’s attention while I just continue my objective
