Not if they want a dynamic print. Most receipts are printed on thermal paper, so they don’t use ink but heat to print text. The paper has to be coated in order to be reactive. It costs more to get the equipment that can print two sides and paper that is coated on two sides than it does to just print extra paper.
Generally when you see receipts with print on both sides, one side is a repeating pattern that is printed on the paper with ink before it is spooled and the dynamic/variable content is printed on the thermal sensitive side.

Those values are good for some people. And you should go ahead and live by them. Not everyone feels that way. We don’t live in the same world that developed those values.
We need representation of broad perspectives because your beliefs and values matter, and so do mine.

It is a problem because it is not balanced. The wisdom and knowledge of older and more experienced people is invaluable. However, the fresh perspective that comes from gathering knowledge during is also invaluable.
We need the perspectives of older people and we also need the perspectives of younger people. Both are vital. That is the problem with the model.

Wear A Mask or Go to Jail, California, circa 1919 9 comments

Well, I do wear a mask. But it is not protecting my health because the mask doesn’t prevent the wearing from getting sick, it prevents the wearer from passing on sickness.
You wear the mask to respect others. This disease has a 14 day incubation period. If you get sick, it may be up to 14 days before you notice it. During that time, you can infect someone else. If you wear a mask, you are less likely to pass the disease on. That is why punishing a non-wearer makes any sense. They have proven that they don’t care about spreading the disease.

No, it’s not for *your* protection. It’s for protection of the group.
That’s the thing. The mask doesn’t protect you (unless it’s a respirator); it protects those around you. So putting people who refuse to comply in jail isn’t because the are risking their health, it’s because they are risking everyone else’s health.
So agreed jail is a bad solution in a pandemic, but what is a good way to get people to comply with this very basic safety measure?

Is that happening? Are people be assaulted for not wearing masks?
I’ve only heard the opposite (people assaulting others when asked to wear a mask).

In the US, there are regulations regarding the use of “organic” but they are pretty arbitrary and mostly dumb.

There’s a company called ship a dick that will send a giant cardboard penis, anonymously, to your intended recipient.
Also, apparently a company that will anonymously send potatoes.

What i think is so wild is that she really believes this. Believes it so hard she made this sign to go wave around at people. And you know people said, those numbers don’t add up to 19 and she just kept ignoring them.

It’s a pirate thing. That’s why pirates are always depicted with big gold earrings. The gold was intended to be enough to pay for the coffin.

I guess I don’t understand what you’re saying.
I thought you were saying that the number of students who made it through the med program would decline because they are instructed they must treat all patients. With that in mind, I related that the insistence has been standard for decades and doesn’t seem to have made a significant impact on number of med students (although other factors have).
So, where did I misunderstand your meaning?

Actually, in the US/Canada they are required to, by law(I haven’t dealt with any food packaging/labeling laws in other countries) There are really specific parameters for how the items are listed.
Incidentally, they list sugar as the first ingredient and while they list sugar as 0g they note that there is less than .5g with an arrow. And they don’t say sugar free, they say less than 2 calories per mint.

To do a custom print on something like that is cost prohibitive without producing huge quantities.
