We were sleeping in a hotel. About two AM my kid (10 years) sits straight up and exclaims, “wow! There’s so many!’” My spouse says, “so many what?” And he responds (calmly now), “boxes.” My spouse says, “yes, there’s more than you’d expect.” And my kid says as he’s laying back down to settle in, “yes, it’s like the Spanish Inquisition, no one expects the Spanish Inquisition.”

Probably someone with enough money to buy 100 properties has enough credit to get a $950 mortgage. At that point you’d have to actively try to have credit that bad. But also, lending is based on more than just credit.
Someone who isn’t approved for $950 mortgage may very well have perfectly good credit. An important factor is access to income. If $950 is more than a certain percentage of your income they won’t lend.
If your credit is mediocre, then your interest rate will be higher but not necessarily declined.

I feel like this is in retaliation to those folks that go to restaurants and leave one of these (with scripture) instead of a tip. And if these parishioners are guilty of such, they deserve it.
