Idk. I guess it depends on what you’re into, but based on those last two photos, I might advised against that girl.

Indeed. It sounds like no one acted right in this situation.

In this case, the photographer was a friend of the couple (someone they might have invited as a guest, rather than just hired). He started taking photos at 11 and by 5pm, when the food was served, he needed a break. I’d say that’s not unreasonable to want a snack and break after 6 hours of work, when there are 2 hours left (in fact, it’s required by law in the US). Also, he’s a dog groomer by trade and not a professional photographer.

I remember that rumor. He was a hot topic since he lived in the same area I grew up in. We went to the same community college (not at the same time).

US laws regarding what you can fire someone for are pretty loose—particularly in “right to work states” (see how they made it sound like it’s good for you!). This is more difficult in places where unions are active and present because the unions typically negotiate more direct reasons for termination.
Now, just because someone fires you for a dumb reason, doesn’t mean you can’t fight it. However, there’s a limit to that value. So, if an employer offers some sort of severance you often loose your case. Simply for the matter that you can’t demand much more than lost wages, for a reasonable period of time.

I was mostly just outraged that I was tricked into closely viewing the spiders. I was all like, there’s the hidden animal! …it doesn’t look like an owl though… it looks like…

Let’s make the work safe for the workers. If you want to demonize someone, demonize the clients. And if you think it’s cool to dehumanize and torment someone that does work you think is beneath you—maybe reevaluate what makes you so damn important.

I always felt waiting tables felt as close to prostitution as you could get without risking STIs. It’s not all bad, but some folks feel the need to degrade you so you can eat tonight & some feel like you don’t deserve to eat tonight. I know plenty of waitresses that tolerated getting a butt pat, or told awful things, or crossing the line because if you make them angry, they won’t tip & if they don’t tip, you can’t make rent.
On the other hand, if someone assaults a waitress, they can take legal action. People who do sex work don’t have that protection. Whether they do the work because they enjoy it, or because it’s the best way for them to earn a living wage, or because they don’t feel like they have a choice, they are still people just trying to make a living. And they wouldn’t do it if there weren’t a market.

It’s also important to note that in this instance, they aren’t trying to come up with an innovative chicken sandwich. People want to know what to expect. These sandwiches all represent fulfilling that expectation —not innovating something revolutionary.

Right, but you’ve implied that people do it because they want the attention—and that’s a common sentiment. And, I’m sure some people do want the attention. Some people have other motives unrelated to whether people will stare or not. While it’s true that a person who has a lot of piercings/colors shouldn’t get upset when people stare, it still stands that many of these people aren’t doing it for others.

Just because someone does something that attracts attention doesn’t mean they’ve done it to attract attention.

My kid was in 4th grade when I stopped being about to help. Because of the common core method, I fully didn’t understand what they were doing. So my kid asks me for help and I look at it and I’m like what are you even doing?? I had to write a note to the teacher that explaining that I couldn’t help with the homework but we really tried.
