I absolutely agree that there needs to be more talk and recognition of negative male stereotypes. I think the hurtful stuff aimed at men is often more subversive, and that often leads to people not recognizing how damaging they it is to individuals and society.

I'm not talking about just anything. I'm talking about a specific word used to hurt and dehumanize those with with mental handicaps. You don't have to agree with me. But now you're informed that those that are disabled do find it hurtful and offensive. And in continuing to use "retarded" in jest, or as an insult, you're knowingly hurting people who cannot defend themselves. It doesn't matter that it doesn't offend you, because your not handicapped. It's about respect, and showing everyone consideration, no matter what makes them different from you.

Nope. When one uses the word "retarded", they are trying to shame by comparing them to someone who is mentally handicapped. My daughter, who has Down syndrome, is not an insult to be hurled at people as a joke.
Your logic means that this could say, "sometimes your knight in shining armor is just a slow down in tin foul." Your defense of them using the r-word doesn't hold water.

Men can be just as nurturing and amazing fathers. The problem is a society that tells men to be ridged and uncaring. Or that they're only role is outside the home, or they aren't needed at all to raise a child. Men who are taught that raising children isn't their job will often not on that job, nor will they value the role of nurturing and raising children as an occupation. Men are/can be just as good as women at caring for children. Don't let stringent gender roles tell you otherwise. They've only existed for a few hundred years anyway. Prior to that, men spent much more of their time actively teaching and raising their kids. It wasn't till the 16th century when men's roles moved away from the home and agriculture and toward industrialized jobs that led to today's gender roles.

You're are right. And I am wrong in that I was oversimplifying and saying it was only friction. Soap does allow for dirt to leave the skin and be washed down the drain. But microbes ARE killed by friction created when washing hands. This is something that has been reiterated to me since I've worked in healthcare for 10 years.

When I was working in the ER, we had a 19 year old kid who came in for nausea/vomiting and stomach pain. Turns out he had eaten lawn mushrooms and had to have his stomach pumped. Idiot right? But it got better. He had been admitted to the ER 3 days prior for the same thing, both times hoping to get high, and just ending up in excruciating pain.

Most microbes are killed by heat caused by friction. Which is why they say you need to wash for 30 seconds. But almost nobody does that.

Not true. Sex doesn't make a woman "loose". The vaginal walls loosen as a response to arousal and anticipating sex. If a girls is "tight", chances are she isn't ready to have sex or isn't actually turned on.

Self worth should not be tied to number of sexual partners, or lack there of.
$20 is still $20 no matter how many hands it has passed through. And this is coming from someone who only had sex after marriage. Virginity is a personal matter, and shouldn't be used to shame someone, or as a fetish to "conquer" someone.

Your assuming that CEO started out with nothing and worked to get all he has. Most of those 4th yacht people started rich, went to a rich school and were hired based on their rich families connections. Real business owners who have actually worked their way from the bottom to the top, usually take really good care of their employees. They know what it's like to struggle, so they help those below them. They also acknowledge that even with all their hard work, a lot of luck was involved. They have a desire to pass on their good fortune. This is rarely true of those who have always had money and connections. They don't understand those that have little, and have a hard time empathizing with them.

The more people study ancient civilizations and pre agriculture societies, the more this theory is disproved. Women were equally responsible for hunting and providing for their families. Even up until the 16th century, men and women worked side by side to support their families.
It's biological. Womens bodies hold onto stores of fat in case they get pregnant and must use that energy to support another life.

I Lucid dream several times a week, and have been able to since i was a teenager. I takes some practice and a level of consciousness that recognizes that what's happening is a dream, and that you're asleep. That being said, i think there is a genetic component to it, since most people i know can't lucid dream, while several of my family members can.
