I agree, zombiestitcher. You kinda need both. You need the time out to establish that actions have consequences, i.e., they can't play with toys for a bit and must sit on their own. It's a good break to stop the bad behavior and have a reset. But you also have to have a talk with the child about why they were in timeout, why what they did was wrong, and what they need to do to make it up. Also, a time out must be within a reasonable time limit. Like 5-10 minutes. Child's development, temperament, and personality has to be taken into account as well. Some kids don't care about time outs. Some kids don't care about toys being taken away. Every kid is different. I was a kid who wouldn't stop bitting until I got bit.

No ER can turn anyone away for not being able to pay. Lots of hospitals write off millions every year because they treat people who can't pay. Are there corrupt, money grubbing doctors and medical establishments? Absolutely. But the "healthcare" problem is not actually a problem with healthcare. It's a health insurance problem.
If you're not insured, always ask about an uninsured discount. Most hospitals and doctors offices have them. And if you're in the ER and don't have insurance, ask for a CARDON representative or financial counselor. They can help you apply for grants people give to the hospital for those that are uninsured, and other programs that can help.

When I worked in the ER, we had an NBA player come in. Most hospitals now have protocols about confirming name and date of birth and requiring signatures and explanations before so much as an aspirin. So I'm helping him get to MRI, going over his info and giving him instruction, and he's being a huge dick, not wanting to go through the protocol. I finish what I need to do and ask if he has any questions. "You do know who I am, right?" I responded with "I do." He seemed hurt.
A few weeks later we had one of his teammates come in. So nice, very friendly and very respectful. The contrast in attitude was interesting.

Bah, I don't buy the romantic soul mate thing. I think a soul mate is anyone you share a deep and fulfilling relationship with. It can be a partner, or it can be a sibling, a parent, or a friend. Some soul mates only last a few months or years, some are lifelong. And everyone has many throughout their lifetime.

Yeah, this isn't healthy. She may actually need to have her thyroid tested, as well as her blood glucose, and should absolutely see a doctor. I suggest talking about it from a medical perspective. This amount of gain can be very detrimental to ones health. It may even be a sign of poly cystic ovarian syndrome or another serious illness.
I suggest changing your own routine to include more exercise and better food. Subconsciously we choose better things for ourselves when those that are around us do.
It's impossible that she hasn't noticed and that it isn't effecting her self image. Trying to make her feel secure in your relationship will help her to open up about what she needs to do to help herself.

I would also recommend "The Poisoners Handbook" for a really good look at prohibition and why it was so catastrophic. A lot of parallels can be drawn in relation to drug laws.

Oops, wasn't signed in.
Anyway, I believe laws are for how we conduct ourselves in regards to others. Laws are there to hold people responsible for how their actions effect other people. You can drink, a personal choice. But you can't drink and drive, because your decision effects others, with a possible negative outcome.
Just my personal opinion, I get lots don't agree with me.

If when you get pizza, you don't get enough for at least 1 more meal, you didn't order enough. Also true for Chinese food.

I go with how TNG pronounced Brent Spiners character.
It's either a soft a like "ah" or hard a, where you actually say the letter a's name. Don't know anyone who uses ar.

Instead of suicide bombings one could replace it with the Crusades, or the Spanish Inquisition.
And I'm Christian as well. The point isn't to bash religion. Just the idea of blind faith. Following "because I said so" has historically been catastrophic for mankind.

I know people are gonna flame me, but I don't plan on seeing it. Not because I think it's a bad movie/book. I just don't care for chick flicks or really any movie meant to make me cry.
I prefer sci-fi.

It would depend on how it was said. In a funny or awkward way, it would work. Intense with leering eyes, i'd get out and take the stairs.
