I think our view on how the future would go was also pretty different [I don't want biological children at all, but I'm keen to adopt if I ever want kids and he really wants to continue his bloodline and have biological children of his own] which made it hard to plan a life together....
But yeah, ultimately I realised that being in a relationship with someone that I didn't have a social connection to was hard, but spending the rest of my life with them would be a slow suicide

Heyo dude. Honestly I think we just grew to want different things in the relationship. It was a really clean break and we're still chatting a little every now and again since pretty much all of our friends are mutual friends but it does still hurt to have lost such a great relationship. Even if we had stayed together I'd still be mourning the lost relationship of old you know? It was a fucking amazing 2 years, we never had any significant fights at all because we always just talked it through. What's really sad is that he wasn't looking for a social connection in the relationship and being good friends with the person I want to spend the rest of my life with is something that's really important to me so once we realised that we pretty much realised it was over. All the things I suggested doing to try make it easier for him to bond 'socially' with me he just shot down or explained away so yeah...
