Noooo that's a cicada! They don't bite or make a nuisance of themselves, they just whir in the trees on warm summer days. When I was younger my friends and I used to catch them and tie strings on them to see if we could get them to fly in circles. They refused.

He published it as a tribute to his daughter, as it was her greatest dream to be a writer. He censored some of the more personal details before publishing it, in order to respect her privacy. Anne Frank's diary has touched millions, including myself.
