I read the title as "penguin" instead of person. I was really confused at first about why it wasn't a penguin aging.

Precisely sox! It's not always, or even usually in my case, strictly someone's physical features that make them beautiful. And thank you tara! Snugglebutt is a (very) minor character in my favorite book. I use the name for everything, including one of my email addresses and it always gets either a laugh or an eye roll when I give it out.

That kind of reply is what makes FS great. Thanks for your respectful response, I appreciate it! And sorry if I rambled!

Bluekitty1013: on initial appearance I don't usually find very obese people attractive. As a rule though, women want to be judged on more than strictly appearance. On a good day I might be considered physically average, but I'm much more than what meets the eye. I kind of took this to mean men deserve the same, to be considered more than just something to look at and admire. Or maybe I'm too serious.

Just like men, all women are different! Of course I have an idea of the "perfect" man, but the one I'm missing and thinking about right now certainly isn't the media-hyped definition of perfect. But he's sweet and funny and smart, which makes him absolutely, completely gorgeous to me.

I tried watching the video that was linked above, but at shortly before the 6 minute mark the narrator says that it isn't rape if you consent but the sex is "awful" and you say no but the guy finishes anyway. I gave up, I was on board until that point. Any valid points are negated by that one statement. Once either partner says no or indicates that they no longer wish to engage in sexual activity it becomes non consensual. Both partners have the right to stop at any point. Once you cross that line it becomes rape. No one is obligated to continue an act of sexual gratification simply because its been begun.

Some parents would rather play COD than so much as talk to their kids. I'm with you, whether they want to be there or not, I'm happy to see dads that are at least supporting their kids' interests.

Every nation keeps up on intelligence in other countries. Until there's complete and utter world peace it's just the way things are.

Thank you! I was lucky to be raised to believe a person's worth is based on who they are and not what they look like or who they love. I can't imagine missing out on some of the friends I've had just because of something as silly as who they're attracted to or the number of tattoos they have, and I certainly don't want my daughter growing up and missing out or thinking it's ok to judge people or ever hurt someone simply because they're different than her. That way of thinking is just ridiculous to me!

My daughter asked about a gay couple that were holding hands at the mall. I told her they loved each other. She fully accepted it as a legitimate answer. She's also asked about people with lots of piercings. She regularly compliments people on their tattoos and wild hair. When she's chatting with strangers she regularly asks them first what color their cars are. Then launches into how ridiculous her legs are. Kids aren't born biased against much but maybe certain foods. But they do pick up on more subtle clues from the adults in their lives than most people realize. It isn't just parents that create biases in children! Luckily I come from a medically and mentally diverse, tattoo having, open minded family and so have a daughter that likes people not in spite of their differences, but for them!

I love that! We made friends with a couple of truck drivers on a 14 hour drive once, stopped at the same rest areas and everything for like 8 hours.

I actually fully agree with those (translated) points. But that kind of IS the point; though it's not just gay people, any group of people that are tormented simply for existing deserve to fight for their right to simply exist. When you narrow the scope and subtle out one group (gay, women, black, middle Eastern, short, oversight, etc.) you'll always have people that rally against them and say they want extra protection. I had a comment way at the top stating I'm tired of so-called protected groups. And I am. No one race, sexual orientation or gender is better than another, but I wholeheartedly believe in creating a society that is equal for all. I've worked hard to overcome my circumstances and I don't want to be looked down upon simply because of who I am. Nor do I want benefits or protection I don't deserve, don't want and didn't earn. Equality is just that. Equal rights, not special treatment.

I think the primary point the first guest was making was that the 2 issues are not mutually exclusive. There are plenty of gay people that are beaten, threatened, harassed, killed and tortured. Standing up against that is incredibly important, and the freedom to be who one really is is a major reason people fight for their countries. Safety, security and freedom are worth fighting for; sometimes you're the person on the battlefield with a gun and sometimes you're the person using the freedom of speech said gun affords you.

Yesssssss! You know what, I like the way you think. Not sure guests get notified of new comments, but I'd love to see people who show courage and bravery honored equally. Regardless of all else, people who fight for equality for all people, in all its forms should be respected and applauded.

Some people will use any excuse to spew their anger, especially when they can do it from behind their computer or phone. I promise I didn't intend to come across as aggressive! FS is my happy place, I really did just mean to point out what I perceived as a fairly recent increase in posts of this nature. And since I'm in the US I don't see how the media portrays us elsewhere, so I asked if we'd done something that I'm not aware of.

Sheesh. If the reference to calling it hate is because of my comment up above, I apologize for using a term loosely. I can take a joke, and don't tend to spout off about how great my country is. I was just taken aback at how many cracks there's been about the US lately on here.

I meant that in the less literal sense. There have just been a lot of jabs at Americans lately, my knickers weren't in a twist I was just curious. I think there were other posts along the same line as this on the same page this was on.

Well yes. My 18 year old, young and not yet jaded, service men and women need that money. Support those that ensure your safety, clean water and freedom is kind of my thing.

Thank you famousone! I am tired of watching my paycheck shrink because there's yet another "protected" group within my society. I fully support ensuring that EVERYONE has equal rights, I fall within a minority category, but I'm sick of people exploiting any kind of safe haven. It makes it harder for people that actually need help to get it without discrimination.

I pay more in taxes than I do for insurance (which I'm forced to get through my employer thanks to my President, and costs 35% of my paycheck), and my retirement. I'd rather see a larger part of my taxes go to my vets than some super awesome gay guy who's famous for running fast. If I had the money personally I'd be exponentially more inclined to pay for someone's new legs than a phone call for some tool on steroids.

Aaaaaaaaaahhhh, thank you goldeneye! I am, I guess, quietly patriotic. I love my soldiers and law enforcement. I thank my veterans and respect their sacrifice for my country. But I'm not a beer chugging, hate spewing, cross eyed, inbred, overweight, unemployed, redneck, flag waving jerk. I'm getting really frustrated by all the anti American posts. Very few people would cheer for racist or sexist things, why is this suddenly so acceptable?

Navigation has to be set up by someone, it doesn't just come from the factory completely programmed. It comes in to a dealership or enterprise set to the default setup screen. Unless he came to the US to drive that car, which hey maybe he did, it's more likely a dealer who is NOT American PDId that particular car and set the navigation defaults.
