You go to Valhalla after dying in battle. I remember a prompt talking about it somewhere. On a whim, I jotted down a few quick thoughts on it.

"My battle was that against Mistress Life herself. For years I fought her. Alas, she was stronger than I was ever warned. A mere mortal like myself never stood a chance.

There were no damsels left behind to weep for me nor brave allies to honor my body. My last breath left my lips alone. I knew I was defeated. It pained me to continue, and I knew she would never let me thrive. But I refused to kneel before her. Unlike the fools around me waiting for her to behead them, I went out head first. I did not wait for Death to approach. I charged her myself and my heart stopped at my own will. My battle was not fought against others. It was a battle between Life and I. She won but it was by my own will."

I don't believe in any Afterlife, but the Valhalla theme fit nicely with it.

Decisions have consequences, I agree. The decision to live is still a decision. When I kill myself, that does affect other people. It also affects me when I don't. It's not my job to make everyone happy at the cost of my own. It's not my job to suffer to stop my mother from crying for a few months which will fade into only the occasional pang.

I don't have high expectations for anyone. I don't even expect nor want a funeral or even to be mourned. People seem to have too high expectations in me. I don't want people to care about me. I talk about my suicide commonly because I'm preparing for it. I don't want to get better. I want to get strong enough. Another quote is that depression is living in a body that wants to live with a mind that wants to die. My mind knows what it wants yet my body still recoils.

Guest, can you please provide sources for that information of Islam being against violence? I know that Sharia Law is Law based almost solely on the Qur'ran, and I would not declare that to be peaceful. And most of the Islamic world supports the notion of Sharia law being the official law of their country.

I still hold by one or my favorite descriptions of humanity. Good men will do good things and bad men will do bad things. But for a good man to bad things, that takes religion. Religion can do good things too, but so could torturing people to keep them in line. You don't have to take both the bad and good. You can have the good while leaving the bad with the rest of the myths such as Zeus. All the benefits of religion can be done without religion without having any of the negatives of religion.

Same. The big thing I'm considering tonight is that people who think they understand depression and try to help only really show me that they have no idea what depression is like. I'm not completely sold on the idea yet, but I'm toying with how people try to discourage suicide.

Telling me to not commit suicide kinda feels like what I would imagine a gay person feels when someone tells them to not be gay (Nobody has told me). It's just something that is intrinsically connected to my daily life. I'm curious as to how many times I consider it per day truthfully. Of course, homosexuals can't be cured and neither is there anything to cure. It's just that saying not to kill yourself mostly feels like a shaming thing to me. Plus, a lot of the one liners about anti-suicide are insulting at best and damaging lies at worst. One of the worst being "You're just passing the pain to others." As it says that I am weak, hateful, worthless, inconsiderate, and that my only purpose is to serve others.

It may just be the way I've trained myself to think. People have a tendency to not understand me at all. I can be having a massive fight with someone over something and see them as a disgusting person. And then I can be nice and joke with them if they let me. I understand that just because I disagree with someone vehemently doesn't mean that I have to hate them. There are people on this website who I'm convinced look at all my comments just to find things to dislike, but I still talk to them like a normal person. There is only one person I will never talk to nor ever consider being a decent human being.

Tl;Dr I do my best to separate people away from past experiences. Just because we had an argument before doesn't mean we can't agree on topics nor that I need to treat you differently. Everyone really is equal in my eyes from my ten year old cousin to his father, and I mean that in an actual way and not the cheesy "I don't see skin color" virtue signaling.

I never really assigned race to non human people tbh. It's not something I've considered.

But if Grim were human, then he'd be a grumpy grandpa who tries to hide that he wants to have fun.

I don't know if I like beer or not. It can look so good. I just know that I will never drink any of it from a can in my life. Too many bad memories.

That depends. Sex sells, so of course there will be a large portion of the market going for that. On the other hand, there are very deep and compelling stories too. Anime is a very broad term that captures both the porn and movies. It catches both porn and the MCU. It wouldn't be fair to associate porn directors with actual movie directors.

But yeah, animating tits to have convincing jiggles can be pretty complicated.

Oh damn. I've been to four different high schools, and you had absolutely no control over what classes you took. They just told you where you were going and that's the end of it. Even so, the fact that it's not mandatory that we can choose still limits what we can learn.

The stupidest thing I learned about my last high school before I graduated was that they didn't care. They actually had at least one class that was just sitting there that was supposed to be Environmental Science. I requested to leave because of that, and the principal and teacher agreed that the class was there so the people who couldn't pass a real class could still get their science credit. I know not all the environmental science classes were like that, but that was the most negligent thing that defied the entire idea of a school ever to me. I was only put into the class because I joined the school year a few weeks late. I actually transfered to Chemistry which was fun.

I was talking about High School at a maximum due to the nature of it being the last place many students will ever learn. Of course, you can choose what you learn about for college and beyond. In my area, the only choices in class I had were Chemistry or Physics. I took Chemistry, but I kinda wished I could have taken physics too.

After everything is gone, all you have is your life. Be strong and charge at death head first and take destiny into your own hands. My body still recoils from the blade against my mind's will, but you can be stronger than I. Don't let Mistress Death find you first.

You can learn a lot of things in classes, but that can be up to the teacher. I think the question is properly, "Why isn't this part of the curriculum?"

Of course, I don't know where you live. In my State in the USA, I don't remember learning of any place outside of America and Britain. Excluding geography where the teacher made us learn where all the most common countries are including various lakes and rivers in Africa.

The Middle East used to be the center of advancement. They were the leading in all the science and maths. We use arabic numbers. Most of the stars we can see have arabic names.

And then a religion that taught people that science was evil became more popular. Islamic countries haven't recovered yet. I'm still uncertain as to whether it is even possible for Islam to become more peaceful (Actually peaceful. I can't call it being Nice to someone just because I named my rocket launcer "Nice") and adapt to modern times like Christianity has and is still doing to some extent. Religions are very kind and considerate until they become powerful. Islam rose to power, and science became of the devil. Like some Islamic "scholars" say, if it isn't said in the Qur'ran, then it can't be true because all knowledge comes from the Qur'ran.

Things always improve after a dozen shots or so. As for being disatachemented, I try to stay as objective as possible when I'm not making jokes. My own opinion or beliefs have no place in the discussion of facts, and I will only reference them when it is clear that it is indeed just my opinion.

...So littering and being concerned over injury is no big deal? The air planes are indeed a danger to people particularly if they are being made of sturdy paper, and they are also a nuisance that can ruin someone's experience. I really don't get why the Cleveland Stadium was so negligent and such an asshole lately.

Maybe a troll just signed their name to such a ridiculous letter though.

Isaiah 40:22 describes the Earth as a circle: "He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth...". A circle is a two dimensional object or a flat object. A basketball is not a circle; it is a sphere. This verse is still describing the Earth in a way that defies the globe Earth and follows with the firmament.

If I implied that he was forcing it onto you, then I assure you that I didn't mean to. I just meant to describe how most people will speak something that has little do with the topic to make you forget what you said or to make you think you got your answer when in reality they avoided the question with fancy talk. It isn't something that only religious people do. Anyone who doesn't really want to answer the question does it. Politicians are famous for it to the point where it is a Monty Python Sketch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zxRgaNb7Rr4

There is indeed a decent debate here. Young Earth creationist belive that the Hebrew word used ("Yom") means a literal twenty-four hour day. Meanwhile, Old Earth Creationists believe that it means an unspecified amount of time. There really isn't a hard answer of this to my knowledge, and which one is true is usually determined by which one you'd prefer be true to most.

This isn't quite right @tony007. The Earth described in the Bible is a flat disk with a dome over the top of it. This type of structure is better known as a firmament and is referenced several times. One of the earlier examples of this being described is when it speaks of Yahweh seperating the waters in Genesis 1:6. The firmament model (Which is also the model that was held by Hebrews at the time of the Bible's writing) believes that outside of the dome (Which would be space for us) was filled with water. This verse is talking about the creation of the dome. Further, the dome was unmoving. The Sun and Moon were placed inside of the dome and moved around on the glass dome. Here is a picture of the model described in the Bible: https://i.imgur.com/LSY3gdk.png

So, this firmament had no rotation because the Bible describes the Earth as being flat with no movement.

It's what many people call "Religious Babble". If you get asked something you have no answer for, then you should go and talk for a long time about different things that sound like they have meaning but actually mean nothing. There's absolutely nothing wrong with saying, "I don't really know why." I can respect someone who admits they don't have an answer more than I can for someone who pretends to know. My issue with religious people is that they always think they need an answer and that the answer couldn't possibly go against what they believe.

To give a basic example, one person may say that X is equal to ten. But then we analyze X and discover that it is an odd number. Rather than admitting they were mistaken and trying to find out what X really is, people have a tendency to say that "Well, how can *really* be sure that ten isn't an odd number?" This isn't just religious people of course, but a personal conviction that they couldn't possibly be wrong is common in religion.

Wait @christopher148, why would it even need to be translated? If he really wants us to know exactly what he wants, then why doesn't he use all of that infinite power to make it universally understandable regardless of lanuage? If I recall correctly, there was just such a thing in Acts 2:1 where people were speaking every language at the same time. Could not this deity do the same with his most holy book that could very much have been called the most important book of all time?

Let me give you an example. I tell you that I have an open one million degree needle in my living room while we are one room over. If such a needle existed, then we could be certain that we'd be up in flames. As we are not in flames, we can safely say that the needle doesn't exist as described. That doesn't mean there isn't a needle, but it doesn't exist exactly as I described it. If a hypothesis says X exists, then if X doesn't exist then the hypothesis is flawed and we should find out where.

Because an all powerful god would be hampered when putting his all knowing message into a book. If the Bible were truly the word of a God, then it would be universally understood without any disagreements on interpretation - because the only interpretation would be the one said God intended.
