Nurses have been some of the kindest people I've met in my life. I was in and out of the hospital in my teens and early twenties because of my heroin addiction. It was always hard for the hospital staff to find a vein, but there was always a nurse who treated me with the same respect you would anyone else. Nurses didn't look at me like a "junkie." I'm almost 4 years clean now, but I will never forget those many nurses who helped me. Thank you to all the nurses out there.

I've been homeless, and now I am a college student heading towards graduation. The dichotomy is extreme, and I can feel the paradox in my own life. This photo is powerful and reminds me of where I came from, and of where I'm going.

The only people who treated me differently were people I didn't need in my life. The right people will accept you for who you are, I promise. There will always be haters, but they can take their negativity somewhere else. Don't be afraid to be you! I used to work at either this restaurant that guest went to or one that serves a Bloody Mary just like that! Super cool and delicious, but takes FOREVER to assemble. The servers would always groan whenever a customer ordered one because we had to put it together.
