I’m a teacher and I make around 50k but I live in NY. Rent is over 1200 a month for a one bedroom anywhere driveable from where I teach. I also have crazy student loan debts bc my family made “too much” for me to get grants, I pay 200 a paycheck for my grad studies. I also have to pay union dues, car insurance, car payment, phone bills, internet, food, etc. I have insurance but it’s still expensive for dental work (200+ for a crown not including root canal). I have debt from a surgery I needed. I don’t take a lot home after all that and most of it goes into a savings account. I work two jobs plus took on extra responsibilities at work including running regents prep, after school clubs, and administrative duties. My salary is not enough for me to live on my own so I have to live with roommates
