About 45 years ago, 24. October 1975, 90% of women in Iceland protested against their rights.
Icelanders did not come to work, and household duties and childcare were handed over to men. The country has been paralyzed.
In Reykjavik, 25,000 women gathered at rallies - from girls in school uniforms to retired older ladies. This was very impressive given that iceland's total population was 220 000 at the time.
Schools, shops and banks were practically non-working. Television canceled most of the programs. Phone lines have stopped working.
This one day has forever gone down in history, and women's lives in Iceland have never been the same again.
A year later, the Icelandic Parliament passed a new law that guaranteed equality for women and men. Five years later, in democratic elections, Vigdis Finnbogadottir was elected the world's first woman president.

Okay guys I kinda think there is a hidden message in this. The little person at the bottom is coloured in, so don't think I'm racist but I'm pretty sure that means she is dark skin coloured, so I think she is adopted, and kids at school or somewhere are making her feel bad for looking bad to her family. I feel so bad for this little girl, and this is so sad.
