Not to disagree with the message he's trying to get across, but that kinda sounds like feel-good b.s. to me.
Use your eyes. Look at a white man and look at an Asian man. Do you see a difference? I thought so. So keep this "no such thing as race" crap off the table.
If I'm misunderstanding, it falls on him to be more specific and clear with his words.

See, I get the idea behind it, but I disagree. Because this is a reactionary attitude. You are expecting that the other person be nice to you before you are nice to them. It's a violation of the categorical imperative, and is therefore inherently selfish. If you're only nice after they are, and they're only nice after you are (meaning you're both waiting on the other to be nice first), you'll never have a good relationship.
In layman's terms: Don't be reactionary. You be nice to others NO MATTER WHAT.

I was at the Social Security office yesterday to get my wife's name changed, and this weekend I gotta go to the DMV.
I'm pretty sure we'd all die waiting in line if our hospitals were operated by that same government.
Maybe Canadian officials are better at running businesses that American ones.

I'll just say that the Book of Mormon musical is about as representative of Mormons as Hitler is of communism. Not even close. Thankfully so too... that play is filth, imo.

From someone who has lived in Utah, I learned that there is a huge difference between Mormon/Utah culture and Mormon religion. Everything that you guys have listed so far comes from Utah culture, which is only indirectly related to the actual religion and the way it teaches people to behave. The difference between culture and religion is really one of the biggest reasons the Church teaches. Leaders are constantly trying to get people to figure out that some of those cultural things are bad and to stop doing them.

I didn't mean to imply that your comment was hostile, I just hoped to point out that Sparklez was being inconsistent in the way he judged your comment vs. mine.
I can understand the way you feel, ningo. While I do still refuse to endorse a homosexual lifestyle, I understand the frustration you feel when people judge you unfairly or unrighteously. There will always be people who do that. But it's not just something that religious people do -- it's something that people in general are prone to do. Sparklez confirmed that for us yesterday. I think it's important to not be selective in the people we choose to dislike because of their faults and failures. Instead, try to understand that all of us are trying to figure out how life works, so we're all in the same boat. There's no sense pitting ourselves against each other, because deep down we're all on the same team. Unfortunately many religious people forget that sometimes. Many nonreligious people do as well. We all need to get better.

The problem is that everyone gets annoyed with other people quite often, and we always like to think It's because we're smarter than them. Bonus: If we keep our thoughts to ourselves and never ask questions, we'll never run the risk of finding out that we were actually the ones who were wrong.

Thanks for the prefect demonstration of a double-standard. When I do it, it's "slamming", but when he does it, it's just "defending himself." Nothing I said was hostile or hateful in any way. If you think it was, I'd love for you to explain how ningo's original comment wasn't.
I offered a calm, reasonable defense, and your rebuttal has no more substance to it than pulling out your favorite desperate insults.
Please forgive me if I'm not impressed or convinced.

Judge people, no. But tolerate sin? Definitely not. It is true that hypocrisy is a great sin, but are you not doing exactly the same thing with the massive amount of judging you just did?
When it comes down to it, other people's sins have nothing to do with yours. Yes, some people can be hypocritical. But that had nothing to do with whether or not homosexual behavior is a sin

I get that that's the traditional Christian dogma, but I don't see an "incomprehensible God" anywhere when I read the Bible. The Apostles seemed fully capable of wrapping their brains around Him, to the contrary. That's the God I believe in too -- one who made us after His image.

^ more than a little vague there. Imma put God in several categories right here: god, omnipotent, omniscient, of human form... and definitely gendered, if you take the Bible to mean anything.

I'm confused. "Genderless like Jesus"? Are we taking about the Jesus that was referred to as a male on every occasion? :/

It's easy fronan. All you have to do is dare to see things differently than a "liberal" or "progressive" person and... boom! You have instantly become an evil, racist, homophobic, bigot with no heart. It's quite an incredible process, really.

I agree with shurikkaru. I don't have time to identify myself by all the problems I don't have.
