A condom, but it fills with blood over the day. Unless you're into inserting cotton fibers into your urethra, you are never without a surprise weapon down in your pants at any moment.

Increased automation should supply more needs for less work. 11 comments

My point is that too many people seize on the idea that society should work for them when they miss the point that people have to work to make society function. For the unable, yes, society in this age does what it can to help those who cannot help themselves, but it also (for better or worse) helps those who refuse to work within their capabilities. That, or they foolishly think they can live their current or preferred way of life without realizing sacrifices of certain things have to be made. Most of modern life is merely convenience, like internet, entertainment media,

Those who do not work shall not eat. Many people, capitalist, colonist, imperialist, socialist, communist, democratic and dictators have said these things. It's an undeniable fact of life. Even on an island paradise you have to find water, crack open coconuts, find fuel for fire, build shelter, catch and scavenge for food.

Lovecraft was messed up 5 comments

Lovecraft was fucked up more than anyone realized beyond his racism. Look up his mother, and you can probably understand why his books were delving into ideas of Cosmic Horror.

So in short, it's not true, but it's funny and appeals to me, so in the end it's true.

I think it's canonically true for the second statement in some fashion. Johnny Blaze really wishes he was called The Daredevil instead of Ghost Rider.

Some have additional rumors as to why he was never invited to work on the Manhattan Project, from some claiming he was a fraud, a plagiarist, the people already on the project didn't like him, or that his personal beliefs on the end goal of the project would interfere or impede it's progress.

Yes, the push into the Eastern Front was not initially supplied with winter uniforms. German Command thought this campaign would be like all the other Blitzkriegs and over in a matter of months. When it did drag out, they ran into problems shipping the winter uniforms and clothing to the front lines among other important necessities to fighting a war, like fuel, food, and ammo,

"He did write a letter to Roosevelt about atomic energy. I think this was in part his agony at the evil of the Nazis, in part not wanting to harm any one in any way; but I ought to report that that letter had very little effect, and that Einstein himself is really not answerable for all that came later. I believe he so understood it himself." -Robert Oppenheimer speaking about his relationship with Albert Einstein. Oppenheimer’s lecture was delivered at UNESCO House in Paris on December 13, 1965. The text was reprinted in The New York Review of Books the following March.

The Civil War was a war where Americans killed Americans in the thousands. I'd rather not glorify having to kill Americans to preserve and enforce freedoms in America.

Well, nowadays people excuse the outrageous and excessive amounts of rape, cruelty, and slaughter Genghis Khan committed over his lifetime just because he killed enough to make the earth greener in a time where mass industrialization wasn't an issue.

For anyone who wonders why Macarthur and Nukes are connected, Macarthur's proposal to end the Korean War as a decisive American Victory involved 30 nuclear warheads, and 30 civilian targets. The second part of his plan, was to have a massive quick moving force of trucks and such carrying irradiated cobalt dust after the bombs were dropped, to cover the 200 mile strip between North Korea and China. His reasoning for the first part? They wouldn't have anything left to fight if everything was obliterated. His reasoning for the second part of his plan? The Chinese military had absolutely no form of CBRN or radiation protection for their troops, thus if the CCP wanted to try to deny the Americans any headway into winning the territory, they wouldn't last.

No better than the Nazis 1 comments

Heroes? In the moment, when they were kicking Nazi Germany's ass all the way back to Berlin, right until they were staring down Allied American forces occupying the other half of Berlin. Definitely came off as no better than the Nazis in the aftermath where concentration camps were relabeled as gulags.
