I agree completely with the idea that we should legalize drugs and pardon nonviolent drug offenders. But two things are true. 1. This would not make it any easier to get convictions out of other criminals. 2. It would result in less prisoners, which the prison industry doesn't want. And the prison industry has very impressive lobbyist.

Maybe, but probably not. Generally one beer is not going to make a large difference in lifespan. Also, either way he was likely not long for this world and enjoying something you love is often worth the loss of lifespan.

So, here's the thing. If we are going to have people in prison who might every get out, we should be trying to rehabilitate them while they are there. The number of people who are in prison for repeat offenses proves not only that punishment is not effective at preventing crime, but also makes former prisoners a greater threat to the population than the average non prisoner of the same demographic. If you believe people guilty of certain crimes are unredeemable, then you should want for longer/lifetime terms for those crimes. Personally, I believe anyone could be shaped into a safe, healthy, productive member of society given enough time, resources and expertise. But even without a perfect system, if rehabilitation works for some prisoners than it's worth attempting. Not only does it make everyone else safer, it also means less money spent incarcerating people again. We spend so much money incarcerating people.

I'm not sure how old this boy is--or if this is the case here--but strong desires for young boys to take care of their mothers often stems from issues at home. Especially issues where mom is unable to take adequate care of herself. There is a line. On one side children are kind and sweet and on the other children have learned that taking care of others is paramount to the wellbeing of said people. Leanning too much on children for support is damaging to those children. They grow up with a really skewed sense of what normal healthy relationships look like, which can cause them to make poor decisions about their relationships in the future. I'm not saying that is the case here, I don't know, the sample is certainly to small to gain meaningful conclusions about. What I am saying is be careful not to throw too much praise at children exhibiting overly caring behaviors toward their parents--it may be hurting their already messed up sense of healthy relationships.

It's not the same. Pedophilia is harmful to real children. You might think loli is gross, and maybe is not the best message to endorse it, but so long as someone is sticking to loli and not targeting or viewing real children, I think we should allow that to be.

Umbrella 6 comments

... but how heavy the rain is and how far you need to walk are huge factors. So is where you are going. Plenty of people would use an umbrella for a ten minute walk to work in moderate rain, but would forgo the umbrella in a torrential downpour in order to walk back to their dorm room after class, for example.
But either way, umbrellas are useful tools that can help keep one both dry and professional looking. Which is useful for adults in a way that children dont yet have to care about.

Yeah, using an umbrella is almost universally more important as an adult. Children can forget an umbrella, choose to stomp in puddles, and show up for daycare/school/playdate soaking wet, and its generally not a problem. If the child is young enough, there is a good chance they are being put in clean dry clothes. Older children may have to suffer through sitting in their wet clothes. If an adult forgets their umbrella and its pouring rain, they need to try and park close and move quickly. If an adult shows up for work soaking wet, it makes then look unprofessional and ilprepared. Obviously there are plenty of cases were an umbrella is unnecessary but a child will still want to use one, such as when it's barely raining, or you only have to walk 3 yards into the house you will stand outside trying to put your umbrella down longer than you would have taken just walking in without it. And I get that adults don't use umbrellas all the time and it's fine....

There isn't much of a real story. Snopes Edward Mordrake for details.
Tldr: it's an old myth that was made up and told as fact as early as the nineteenth century. The picture is digitally altered from a picture of a wax figure.

That is the current law on the matter. Once you sign the paperwork the child is yours even if you did not father them biologically. On the other hand this does give fathers rights over said children. Even if the child isn't biologically yours, you can fight for custody of the child.

Even so. You could call your local non emergency number and let them know your situation. Someone will come get you out at that point.

In many places charging more due to children is illegal, where charging more for pets is legal. I imagine many landlords would like to be able to charge more for children as well.

Also, pneumonia isn't actually a virus, it's a condition caused by a virus, or a bacteria, depending. Not everyone who gets the viruses or bacteria which lead to pneumonia will get pneumonia. Many people recover before it ever gets that bad. Once you have pneumonia, you are already at a certain stage of illness. If you looked only at the cases which progressed to a certain critical level you would also be looking at a higher death rate.

You really shouldn't put pineapple up your rectum. Pineapple is very acidic. Eating to much can cause your gums to bleed as the pineapple is literally corroding them away. I think you guys see where I am going with this.
Important message in the Vietnam Memorial 2 comments
thekaylapup · 4 years ago
Plenty of people were drafted into Vietnam, and while many people refused to adhere to the draft, many others felt that not serving when one is drafted to be very wrong.
And even soliders who enlisted by choice didn't nessicary choose Vietnam. If you enlisted before Vietnam you were just sort of stuck going to Vietnam. Desertion is a pretty serious crime.
The United States should not have been in Vietnam--but that isn't the fault of the soldiers who were there.

Maybe sometimes. And maybe they will question it, but other icons have evolved out of outdated technology and most young people accept this is the icon because that's what it is. I've seen a post where a kids asked "Why would someone 3D print a save icon?" In response to a floppy disk. I don't think most kids will even question it--especially with all the icons that float around that aren't based on anything--or are based on something obscure or outdated

It depends on the chairs.
Also, very possible players are happy with these chairs. When I played my chair of preference cost me 50 cents, but it was comfortable for me to sit in for hours while also being able to see the map, look over papers, and roll dice.
