Originally, PayPal was a money-transfer service offered by a company called Confinity which was acquired by X.com in 1999. Later X.com was renamed PayPal and purchased by eBay in 2002. Elon Musk founded X.com.

The best football players in the world play in the NFL. Similarly, the best baseball players play in the MLB and the best basketball players play in the NBA.
It is completely logical to call the Super Bowl Champion, World Series Champion, and NBA finals champion the World Champion.

But there are no Canadian teams in the NFL...

They don't have licenses but they have comparable insurance. Really, it's just a big screw you to the government for having a monopoly on transportation services.

The person that said "it's a great theory but it can't work in practice" hit the nail on the head! Ludwig von Mises actually proposed a criticism of using economic planning as a substitute for market-based allocation of the factors of production called the economic calculation problem. In free market exchanges, prices reflect supply and demand and von Mises argued that outside of the free market pricing system there is no way to rationally and efficiently allocate resources in a society. If a public entity owned all the means of production, no rational prices could be obtained for goods because they were merely internal transfers of goods and not objects of exchange, unlike final goods.
Sorry for nerding out but I couldn't resist.

@Witty username here, I think bethorien was anecdotally referencing that the U.S. government is a mini communism because the government isn't innovative and many things are stuck in the past (i.e. USPS) and that the government is slow because you get paid whether you do your job well or whether you do it poorly.

So sorry for the late reply, my company is at the end of it's fiscal quarter so I've been swamped!
You bring up some interesting points, I hope to address. While Wall Street has become synonymous with stock trading, it’s not actually a stock exchange. The U.S. has over ten financial securities markets, but the major three are the NYSE, Nasdaq, and AMEX. Could you explain what you meant by “the EU has all the stock markets of those countries along with freedom of movement between them.” If companies decided to be listed on other exchanges, I think they would opt for the Japan Exchange Group, Euronext, or London Stock Exchange, in that order. To my knowledge, Euronext is the only pan-euro exchange. What do you mean the euro is unstable? The exchange rate has favored it since at least 2007. It’s also worth noting that Sweden’s overall tax revenue declined because of the FTT.
In fact, the capital gains tax revenue fell so much that transaction tax revenues were completely offset.

I do. And you're wrong. It's still illegal even if you don't get caught. A crime has still been committed.

I misspoke, England never implemented it, but as of 2011 opposed it.

The financial transaction tax was already implemented and subsequently abandoned by both England and Sweden... It was an unmintigated disaster.

Not sure why I'm being down voted for being honest. Despite my dissent I'll still be forced to pay for the education of others or be locked up.
