*coughs politely* I do, however, answer to Thor. There was a wide consensus that "Poptart" takes too long to type, simply "Tart" makes me sound quite rude, and "Pop" can have some... Unpleasant connotations. Thus, many have elected to shorten my name to Thor.

*shrugs* I'm not sure that means what you think it means. I spent my sixth grade year in public school, because I begged to, but when the year was over I begged to go back to homeschooling. Peer interaction is important, yes, but not the end-all be-all of socialization.

@abel_hazard
I'm very sorry about that. But please, know not all homeschoolers are like that. I come into contact more with adults and the elderly than with people my own age, but I've never really had any problems.
As a side note, did you ever go on "field trips?" Or to co-ops, volunteer/service project groups, or extracurricular activities?

Well, a mysterious guy pulls up beside kid-with-glasses (let's call him George), and rolls down his window. When the other guy gestures for George to roll down his window as well, our hero is nonplussed but curious, and unthinkingly complies. As soon as his window is fully down, the other guy rolls up his own window and pulls away, leaving George in a spiral of confusion.
.
This strange occurrence, as per the title, is being used as a metaphor for Life. I would assume it correlates most directly to the times Life sets you up with great expectations, or at least great curiosity, only to pull away without a word... as if the whole thing were merely an exercise in disappointment and confusion.

Neither does the kid with glasses.

Actually, I'm homeschooled, and I appreciate it greatly. I have found it very advantageous: no lines to wait in, no class ranking, no rowdy other kids distracting you from learning, no peer pressure...
And, of course, specialized curriculum focused directly on your individual learning style (if the teaching parent puts in as much effort as my brilliant Mum has.)
The academic benefits, too, can be tremendous, as testified by the numerous Ivy League colleges that have enthusiastically accepted both me and my homeschooled friend, throwing around words in the process like "full ride scholarship" and "honors programs."
All of this being said, I will give you a warning. Homeschooling is in no way easy. If you're not prepared to make at least a 6- or 8-year commitment to broadening these kids' minds and raising/teaching them right, then it's probably not for you.

*shrugs* Maybe. To me, it doesn't really matter if they're attractive or not. I'm just talking about how iconic their respective trench coat looks are.

Or David Tennant.
Seriously, how can you do a list of awesome trenchcoats and skip both David Tennant and Misha Collins?
*turns into Vizzini* Inconceivable!

Or, um, don't study it in one day.
Study for a week beforehand.
Or two weeks.
Or you could just study properly the entire semester.

I approve of every proclamation,
except the one about Frankenstein's monster. For goodness sake, the whole bloody book was basically about the problems stemming from the fact that Frankenstein felt he'd created an abomination-- he didn't want it associated with him, much less mistaken for him.

Real men treat everyone around them with respect and courtesy, but never condescension.
Real men always go the extra mile to help the weak and hurting.
Real men know your word of honor must never be broken.

And, last but not least, real men walk around shouting that everything is "SO MANLY!!!!"

A first grader got this as homework and even the parents couldn't solve it 22 comments
thorspoptarts2 · 7 years ago
The most logical solution is J, or 14. (I'm not sure how some of you are arriving at the answer D or T.)
To the guest who asked how we're solving it, here is how I did it.
*
?....G
...B
S....P.
=
?....11
...6
23...20
Now, given that this problem was deemed simple enough to be assigned to first graders, it leads me to believe that the solution isn't gained by some complicated formula involving ratios, multiple instances of addition and subtraction, or the like.
In other words, the most simple way of getting an answer is likely the correct one. Since that rules out combinations of the sides, we're left with the most simple solution: adding the numbers on the diagonal.
From bottom left to top right, 23+6+11=40. So, it makes sense that the sequence from bottom right to top left should also equal 40. 20+6=26, which, when subtracted from 40, gives us 14. J.
Now, to double check our work:
S+B+G=40
J+B+P=40.
Thus, J is the most logical answer.

You mean to say he isn't the dictionary definition? I've been assuming that "fabulous" was just a synonym of "Levi" for ages.
