As for wedding anniversaries, the reason why they are more likely to be celebrated is due to it's roots. Marriage is an divine institution established by God, the first human wedding being performed by Jehovah himself (God's name) as described in Genesis 2:22-24.
But all in all, Korozco, Does this mean that we're preoccupied with the origin of EVERY single custom out there? No, not really, but we simply cannot ignore the Scriptures when they give such pointed indications either, as is the case with birthdays, halloween, and Christmas, to say a few.
I apologize for this long reply, but to respond properly this much was called for. I apologize as well if you or any FS member might've felt offended in my attempt to give an informed answer.
