A lot of dogs don't like their man-made beds for some reason. I mean, a lot of dogs DO like them, but a lot of dogs also don't. My dog will refuse this super fluffy, plush, soft bed but then he'll go sleep on a fallen pile of books and be as happy as can be.

My dog doesn't really have a safe haven. He mostly just hangs around with us. We've tried to set him up with his own little nooks before—you know, giving him a little bed, some toys, and just making it a cozy area in general—but he never took to them. He mostly just curls up wherever.

Yeah, no problem. I was getting annoyed by it, too, so I just felt an obligation to stand up for my generation. :) Anyways, it sounds like iwantasandwhich is gonna hit me with some of his/her own facts and opinions—some of which I might agree with—so it's not over yet.

As a teacher, this is my biggest confession 11 comments

Those hardly ever work. I mean, it'd look bad if the teacher couldn't handle their own students so they sent them to the principal's (hell, I don't even know if you're allowed to do that anymore, most of them just send kids to other teacher's rooms, but that doesn't resolve anything) and a lot of kids don't care if they get detention and they don't care if you call their parents and a lot of parents don't care if their kid's acting up in school.

Well, I suspect my dog had a bit of PTSD that caused him to be afraid of crates. The pound said they rescued him from a hoarder. The guy had something like fifteen dogs, three hundred pigeons, and a lot of other things. That's probably why my dog hated the crate so much.

13.) Stop judging music. There was a post a few weeks ago about this. Stop judging people by their taste in music, people will like what they like and you're in no position to complain about it. I, personally, have no problem with the music unless it's racist, homophobic, etc. I generally dislike the musicians more than the music.
14.) This is an extremely narrow post. You're judging an entire generation from a very small sample.

11.) Romance is not dead. There are still plenty of people who woo girls with flowers and cards and such. Also, there have always been dicks that have tried to win girls with their levels of coolness, but it's now been replaced with "swag". Also, not all guys my age are like this. There are still plenty of polite guys, you're obviously just not looking hard enough.
12.) Again, you're obviously not looking hard enough. There are plenty of couples who actually love or like each other and sex just seems to be a benefit of that. What about couples who aren't having sex? Obviously they're built on something more than sex. And AGAIN, there's always been couples who are just in it for the sex, so stop making it to be some new thing.

9.) We're not getting stupider. Everyone is stupid at this age. Fifty years ago there, were teenagers being idiots and fifty years from now, there will be teenagers acting like idiots. Also, in my opinion, there's no "stupid". Some people are smarter in some subject than others are and those other people might be smarter in various subject than some are. We're all smart and dumb in various subjects and things so there really no way to measure intelligence (however, I do call people stupid and idiots often, so this is pretty hypocritical of me, but I never really believe them to be stupid or idiots, I use those insults under pretty broad terms).
10.) Seriously? A guy asking PERMISSION from another guy to date me? First of all, you make it sound as though the girls have no say in the matter. Second of all, it's your choice to do what you want and you don't need permission from anyone.

8.) Yes, we are getting fatter and fatter. Thanks for pointing out one of our greatest insecurities in a world that's so obsessed with being skinny. Again, there's the lack of effort for survival nowadays and you pretty much only exercise if you want to be skinny or if you like exercise. A lot of people don't have time to fix healthy meals at home, so they buy McDonalds and such because it's faster. A lot of people don't have the energy or time to exercise because they're too busy with other things in their lives. This goes to people in and out of my generation.

7.) Respecting your elders, in my opinion, is stupid. I'm not saying be outright rude to them, but you've got to EARN my respect. You don't just receive it because you're fifty years old. Also, there are a bunch of terrible elderly people. I mean, A LOT of our elders are homophobes, racists, sexists, etc. A lot of their ideas and opinions of the world are outdated. Excuse me if I refuse to respect a racist old man. Also, a bit off the deep end, but there are such things as child-molesters and a lot of murderers happen to be older than me. Should I respect them just because they're older?

5.) Yes, we are too distracted by technology. This is very true. But apart from books, there's not much to do anymore. It's so easy to live now and we no longer face the struggle of survival so a lot of people are bored. Not to mention that nature is getting destroyed more by the second.
6.) We are not lazy, we are teenagers. Our bodies are flipping out on us, our hormones are going crazy, and we're insecure and very pressured. I'm not saying this to gain sympathy and don't say I'm exaggerating. Also, where the hell do you get off saying we're lazy? I know plenty of kids who bust their ass to get good grades, who spend five hours everyday after school training or doing extracurriculars, and things such as that. So, that's bullshit.

Okay, be prepared for a LONG comment.
1.) Kids have always been trying to act more grown up in every generation. You can't place it solely on this one.
2.) Again, kids have always been having sex, drinking, smoking, etc. Unless you're referring to five year olds and such, then yeah, that's new. But you should be looking to the parents to enforce some discipline.
3.) A lot of people who complain about teenagers getting pregnant are hypocrites. If you had consensual sex as a teenager, then you can't complain because you could have gotten pregnant as well and you were just fortunate enough not to. Really, you should complain about teenagers having sex in general and that has been going on forever.
4.) Again, kids have always wanted to grow up and be an adult. This isn't some new development.

I dunno, my dog is pretty well-trained but we didn't used a crate. Being in a cage caused him severe anxiety and he'd rip up anything that was inside of it. It was definitely NOT his safe haven.
