My proposal: make a third group called “kid scouts” that is gender neutral. BTW, I was in Girl Scouts as kid, and the Boy Scouts seemed like they were having much more fun. They got to do stuff like archery and wood carving, while we were decorating t-shirts.
The boy scouts in my area had this big camp, meanwhile girl scouts had the back of a church and maybe a trip to a hotel of we had leftover cookie money. Otherwise the most we did was self help books.
Not my girl scouts we did all the same stuff the boy scouts did. Yeah their was girly stuff to like learning to sew and we had a mother daughter tea party but we also learned archery and how to survive the wilderness and we worked with wood carving and all sorts of stuff. Thanks to girl scouts you can drop me off in the middle of the woods and I could find my way home and survive in the woods for days.
It might of helped that every single girl scout leader I had thier husband's were the boyscout leaders.

@funkmasterrex have you seen the show Alone it is really good. It drops off people in the middle of the woods with the basic of basic gear. Almost just the clothes on their backs a camera and a knife. They don't even get camera crews with them they have to film it all themselves. They have no clue how many others are left. All they know is them and at least one other person is still in the game.
It is a great show. Well worth the watch if you love all that survival stuff.

I hate that half the stuff I want to watch is on Hulu. I don't want to pay for Netfix, Directv and Hulu.... I can only go 2/3 and since I love sports and have a deal with my neighborhood the directv stays.
I have friends who have Hulu and we could just HDMI my computer with them logged in; but we always seem to smoke and get too lazy for that.... Gotta change that habit; Runaways.
Yes, and YMCA stand for Young Men's Christian Association, but you don't see then allowing only male Christians. No, they had to adapt to society in order to remain relevant. Girl scouts is NOT the same thing, they do not share the same goals, priorities and experiences.
Girl Scouts is just a corporate excuse to use child labor. The newly named "scouts" legit teaches skills to kids that they would have basically no other way of learning. It hurts no one to let girls get those skills too.
The whole Boy Scouts accepting girls isn't the huge social justice thing everyone is making it out to be. It's purely a business decision. Boy Scouts have been dealing with declining numbers for a while now and they needed a way to get more people interested. They know that they're better than Girl Scouts Robby accepting girls they're opening themselves up to a whole new market with very little competition. It's not liberal bullshit, it's just a smart business move (even if it does go against tradition).
Selling cookies and sometimes volunteer work with hardly any compensation for the work, meaning free labor under the guise of helping which gets you badges.
like boy scouts do that too its called service and its optional. Ive probably done who knows how many hours of service for like rank advancements and felt good afterwords.

Depends how you feel towards it i got my eagle a proud achievement i hold close. No one forced me to do service i just knew it was the right thing. Just depends on the attitude i didnt personally feel helping old people shovel dirt and feeding homeless people was indentured servitude.
At its core the scouts are noble organizations guiding young people and strengthening communities. Many scouts feel pride, accomplishment, and are given a sense of community value over self as well as self esteem through fund raising activities. The former Boy Scout ceo was paid about $500k a year for their services and retirement- which as they point out is average for an organization their size and looking for someone capable of the job. But here’s my question- why does he need to be paid “standard?” Maybe he wasn’t a scout? Maybe he never learned that lesson about service? An adult has to pay bills, so doing it free would be outrageous- but he couldn’t somehow scrape by on $100,200k a year? That’s where the accusations of exploitation stem from. Monetizing a child’s sense of accomplishment to take in one of the top 5 highest paying NP salaries in America while the children making that money for you are expected to do it for free. Not reinvesting that and other expemses into the kids
I was in Girl Scouts and camped winter and summer and did so many cool things. My son was in Cub Scouts and quite because there was no camping and only crafts. It depends on the troup not weather boy or girl scouts. Leave it the old way.

Have you noticed that schools must let girls on the wrestling team, but boys are still forbidden from playing volleyball? It makes sense on one level, because a few boys would totally do,I ate things over the smaller weaker girls, but it's still not "equal" or "fair."
With scouts, I would have imagined that the aggrieved parties would start their own organization with the rules and bylaws they favored. Or, run their Girl Scout troop with more "boy like" activities. But it's not about equality or fairness....it's about making everyone else do what you want. OK, we accept your gay marriage, but if I don't celebrate it, there's a lawsuit waiting to happen. If I don't try to hinder your gay marriage, that's not enough...I have to be forced by the courts to bake a cake for it.

I can’t agree with your logic here. It’s flawed. You say it is hindering to refuse to serve gays? It literally is. Let’s say it isn’t a cake- but a job? If your stance is that you don’t want to hire gays- isn’t that discrimination? If you see a man being beaten to death and you do nothing to help the man or attackers, nor hinder them, have you not done wrong if it was in your ability to do otherwise? What’s worse is- what if you tell police you would have called 911, but the man being attacked was a race or sexual orientation you didn’t like? While a cake itself isn’t as severe as a beating, it’s the same thinking, the same logic. If you would bake that cake if they weren’t gay, Latino, Catholic, whatever- and you don’t ONLY because they are- that’s discrimination. You are hindering them from living their lives where you wouldn’t hinder someone else. All things being equal- the request is reasonable, the customer is civil, and you have no reason to refuse, by virtue its hindering.
You don’t have to celebrate jack shit. No one is asking you to come eat the cake and give a toast. What’s the difference if a friend or personal assistant books the cake for a gay associate? So they have to either hide their gender, or jump through hoops to cover their trail just to get a cake anyone else could buy? You may say: “go somewhere else then.” No one else would HAVE TO go somewhere else. That is a hinderance. This is literally the same logic as segregation. “Let them go somewhere else.” “I have a right not to serve those people on moral grounds. They can open their own bakery if they want one.” And so on. It’s a weak and ignorant position.
