Ah.....they are.....okay. Same basic thing in each book over and over again, just ten different times. I liked them when I was younger, but they just don't do it for me anymore.
Any book by Brandon Sanderson, but I would start with the Mistborn Trilogy
One of my favorite authors of all time is R. A. Salvatore, who wrote many books pertaining to the Forgotten Realms. But Brandon Sanderson is such an amazing writer that even R. A. Salvatore can't compare
One of the best books I have ever read is called The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss
Some other great ones are by Tamora Pierce. First one is called Alanna: The First Adventure, and you can follow from there, and there are other series that cross over in the same world.
