I think there was a netflix adaptation. But my idea was more about, the kid is basically dead, and only pieces of his memory survive in the android. Enough that he has connections to the kid's family, but he's still basically someone new. And it's not really just technology imbedded in his head, but like, a completely built up body, with some organic components. Enough to look like a human with prosthetics I guess. But it's not like, interfacing with machines, but more, combat/movement upgrades. Though, I'm sure that one of the other ones that went through the process was meant to interface with technology that way.
