SO, I just delivered a baby on bed. I mean the baby came out on the bed and the mother had no clue. I literally had to pull out the baby's head to keep him alive. Oh my god, I am still so numb.

I'm not a midwife or a doctor or anything like that but how on earth was the mother unaware she just gave birth?

Also are you okay?

Was the baby premature? Also are you okay?

I am numb right now. Everythung happened so quick. I had to stimulate the baby by rubbing his back for a solid 35 to 40 seconds (that's a huge amount of time in terms to that) but the baby cried and is doing very well. It was almost like some intense movie scene. Everythinh happened within 10 mins. And I have no idea how the mother did not know she had a complete baby head in between her legs and the worst part is that her legs were not apart so it is like she was kind of strangling her baby unknowingly. I dont know what came into me and I thought let me check this once and this happened and I did not even bither wearing gloves seeing the baby struggling to come out. It was really really adrenaline pushing heart thwarting soul coming out of my body moment considering it is my 4th day in Obstetrics where we take out babies and the 3rd case that I have done independently.

The baby was term @xvarnah but we were not expecting the baby to come out this quick. I had just examined the mother 10 minutes back. Everything happened so real quick.

@parisqueen I have no idea too. I scolded the mother a little bit later but I was going nuts inside. I wanted the baby to breathe at any cost. Both the mother and baby are doing very well.

Oh my God I thought this was about yourself for a sec and I got really scared

I was just surprised the mom couldn't feel it at all good grief what an ordeal. Thank goodness you were there though

I'm so glad to hear that, 30 seconds for the baby not to have oxygen is insane so I hope it didn't cause any major long-term consequences. You did really really well for a situation like that, I hope you sat down and had a fat cup of tea to calm yourself.

Congrats for your quick reaction who_cares, you're wow (I can't find a better word).

Thanks but seriously I did not do a thing. It all went automatic like I was robot instructed what to do. It's all God's grace and mercy that the child survived and on evaluation he was doing very well. It took me almost 2 hours to finally let this sink in. I just met the mother and baby and the family looked so happy. I am glad God is looking upon all of us so well.
