Enjoy! Uni starts back for me as well. I don't bother actually buying the textbooks until I know I need them, you can end up spending over $300 on them then only using one for like one chapter, it's not worth it. Just borrow them from the library.

I can apparently get away with skipping the BCom books, but I apparently need the Law one

Some hot tips: sit with people on your first day, odds on others not having anyone they know and also being first years is like 99.9% so just start chatting. So much easy to go to classes when you have a buddy. Bring food, idk if they provide food for you on your campus but if you keep buying it you'll be spending a lottttt over the year so prep some meals.
lastly, please ask questions, seek out study groups and ask your lecturers anything you don't get straight away. Everyone is confused and winging it, everyone is willing to help, you're not alone whenever you don't get something and it also encourages others to ask when they see someone else confidently asking. I know these are all basic tips but I find they do help.

Yeah, I know a few people in my Law stream already, I'm in a student hall and a few people from my floor are in the same lecture slot.

And I already got to know them well over O-Week, so we got people to support each other

That's great. I hope you have a good experience of the first day.

That's so good! Uni becomes a lot more enjoyable when you got that social network.

That's the beginning of a great adventure! Remember: odds are EVERYONE thinks everyone else is smarter than them. We had a field trip last year and we were talking and discovered we were all impressed and intimidated by others. Some thought I was so smart while before every presentation i was like "ok let's try and cover the fact that I don't know a lot of shit", I thought a guy was extensively knowledgeable on a whole field while he was in fact jsut passionate about a tiny part of it...
So go there, have a blast, and work until you're proud of yourself, but not until you become sick!

I'm a New Zealander, our timetables will be a bit different to yours

Update: It was boring and pointless
scatmandingo · 4 years ago
Told you to skip it. 8am classes suck.
mrfahrenheit · 4 years ago
haha I have two more this week
scatmandingo · 4 years ago
Skip those too.
parisqeen · 4 years ago
I don't think you should skip them because first week will literally all be introductory lectures and give you some time to find where all your classes are so you're more comfortable for next week.
mrfahrenheit · 4 years ago
yeah, that's why i didn't skip them
mrfahrenheit · 4 years ago
they're all the same course, LAWS 121, so I definitely can't skip them

I can totally see you as a lawyer and I don't know why
